I have a friend wii that he bricked and I hook it up to my tv and I get the black screen too. I was able to get it to boot to sd card with bootmii and that all it will do. If I trying to go to hb channel screen going black again. I checked the info on the system and it say 4.1U. does anyone nothing anything else I can do? Also before you ask preloader he has no backups and preloader not working.

Without a NAND dump, there's likely no way to recover his existing data, but it should certainly be possible to fix the Wii. Take a new NAND dump now, make a backup of that dump (i.e. keep an extra copy on your computer), then load the dump in Ohneschwanzenegger [link]. The downloads for Windows are this and this set of DLLs . There are Mac links on the WiiBrew page, Linux you have to build it yourself. Anyway, once you have the NAND dump loaded in that tool, choose to format the NAND (Content>Format), then install 4.3 from your region by typing "4.3U" for US or "4.3E" for PAL or "4.3J" for Japan in the top left box and pressing "Get it". That'll install the latest System Menu and IOS into the NAND. Then restore the NAND dump and the Wii should (hopefully) work again. If you want homebrew again, you'll have to reinstall it via Letterbomb.

It may be possible to extract some or all of the save data, miis, VC/WW games etc. from the bricked NAND, but I am not completely sure how one would go about that sort of thing.

Can you power the Wii on with a Wii Remote, or do you have to use the power button on the actual console itself? If the latter, this means it is a hardware issue (broken bluetooth module) and thus cannot be fixed with software.

I called NA and it going to cost $50.00 for repair. At first she told me $75.00 but she look at my account and discounted it to $25.00 off then ask me if they could not repair the unit what color I wanted red or Black. She noted it on the account so I can call back and get the repair done. I'm going to wait and get it fix surpize my friend.

Has one come across an issue like that?

depends on the person thats fixing it
they can indeed say "you modded it, not going to fix it"
because you Void'd the console by modding

someone sent in a 3DS with a Flashcard in the slot
they did the fix but destroyed the flashcard
luckily thats all they did
