Yeah, besides my W7U 64 bit installation problems, I have yet again ANOTHER problem

Im switching the motherboard (From an ASUS P7H55 M PRO) to the ASUS M7H55 M LE. Problem is, it has different connectors than my current motherboard

AA98623a.jpg

(Top pic is the M LE mobo)

Im having problems trying to connect the Power supply cables (Corsair TX650 Non-modular) to the motherboard itself. I have the 24 pin and the 4 pin connected to the motherboard but I don't know where to place the 4 pin peripheral cable (which has the fan controller and power led cables connected onto the 4 pin peripheral with the molex connectors on it) from the power supply or the 3 pin CPU fan cable. There is only a 4 pin CPU fan connector and a 3 pin Chassis fan connector on the motherboard, not a 3 pin CPU fan connector or a 4 pin chassis like my CPU fan cable and power supply peripheral cable.

What should I do? I tried connecting the 3 pin CPU fan cable onto the 3 pin chassis fan connector on the motherboard and the 4 Pin peripheral PSU cable with the molex connectors onto the 4 pin CPU. Tried booting it and it didn't work, switched both cables from their places and still didnt work. Everything else is in the right place so the only issue Im having are these connectors.

To answer some questions I would probably get
1) Yes, my CPU (i3 540 LGA 1156) is compatible with my motherboard (also a 1156)
2) Yes, I properly handled the motherboard itself and
3) Yes, I am 100% positive that this is the issue

Could be me, not knowing the PSU myself (looked up a picture:
http://www.overclockers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=602758 ) but why not simply connect the CPU fan to the CPU fan header? Should work fine. If you have an external fan speed controller you should have that hooked up into the PSU on one end and on fans on the other (unless it works fan-fan wise like a zallman fanmate).

Try just connecting the CPU fan to the CPU fan header and see if it boots (my 2 cents).

ASUS M7H55 M LE doesn't exist, i'm gonna assume that you meant P7H55 M LE
Problem is, it has different connectors than my current motherboard
Aside from the atx 8 pin that becomes a 4 pin, it does not.

Im having problems trying to connect the Power supply cables (Corsair TX650 Non-modular) to the motherboard itself. I have the 24 pin and the 4 pin connected to the motherboard
that part is good
but I don't know where to place the 4 pin peripheral cable (which has the fan controller and power led cables connected onto the 4 pin peripheral with the molex connectors on it) from the power supply or the 3 pin CPU fan cable.
you don't have such cable to connect to your mobo, the 4 pin peripherals, as it names indicate, is for peripherals (well, some rare high-end mobo needs it)
or the 3 pin CPU fan cable.
for some reason, I beleive the wires are currently all tangled in your case and you have no idea as to what goes where, which doesn't help your state of confusion.
There is only a 4 pin CPU fan connector and a 3 pin Chassis fan connector on the motherboard
4 pin cpu fan connector have been standart for over 6 year already and that's the way it is.
not a 3 pin CPU fan connector or a 4 pin chassis like my CPU fan cable and power supply peripheral cable.
Nope, your psu does not have such feature
from newegg:
1 x Main connector (20+4Pin)
1 x 4+4 Pin CPU
8 x Peripheral
8 x SATA
2 x Floppy
2 x PCI-E
those 3 pin and 4 pin fan connector must come from either an adapter, an external fan controller or some extreme case of hallucination caused by the mess inside your computer case. ... unless your talking about the floppy cable.

What should I do? I tried connecting the 3 pin CPU fan cable onto the 3 pin chassis fan connector on the motherboard
unless you have a 3rd party cpu fan, I have no Idea of what you connected there.
also 4 pin cpu fan header are backward compatible with the 3 pin connector and vice versa.
such connection should give you an error on post about missing cpu fan.
and the 4 Pin peripheral PSU cable with the molex connectors onto the 4 pin CPU.
You mean you connected the floppy power cable in the cpu fan header?
Tried booting it and it didn't work, switched both cables from their places and still didnt work. Everything else is in the right place so the only issue Im having are these connectors.
That may have shorted the mobo's fan controller and caused other damages.

This is a serious case of RTFM

No I actually DO have a 3 pin CPU fan cable and a PSU cable with molex connectors ending with a 4 pin.

And I did read the manual. I just can't figure out whether the 3 pin CPU fan should go on the 4 pin CPU_FAN connector and the power supply cable with the 4 pin onto the CHA_FAN connector. And again the PH7H55 M PRO IS different from the M LE in terms of the placement of the connectors. If that weren't the case then I wouldn't be having any problems figuring out where to connect the cables in the first place ...

Hook nothing from your PSU to your mobo except for your 20+4 pin power connector and your 4+4 pin CPU power connector.

Hook your CPU fan to your cpu_fan terminal, regardless of whether the terminal or the fan are 3 or 4 pin. It'll work.

Edit - to make it more clear, your cha_fan terminal, as well as anything such as cha1_fan, cha2_fan, etc are your chassis fans. Those are going to be any auxiliary intake or exhaust fans that aren't built into another component or your cpu fan. In other words, if it's not your 20+4 or your 4+4 and it's not a fan or an adapter cable for a fan (4 pin molex to 3 pin fan terminal for example wouldbe fine to hook up) do NOT hook it up to your mobo.

Edit 2 - maybe I'm just too tired (it is after 3:30 AM for me here), but your first post seems like a giant jumble of words and ideas. If it's not just me, then posting a few pics of what you are trying to set up might be a help.

@plasma dragoon007 There's only one Cha_fan connector on my motherboard and I have 2 intake and 2 exhaust case fans that all use 3 pin cables. I have those 4 connected to 2 power controller cables which in turn are connected to the power supply through a fan controller molex cable. It appears that I have no other way of connecting my PC fans to my motherboard.

Anyway I still think my motherboard is fine regardless of what others say since it's still receiving power, just not being able to boot. Any other ideas?

Case/chassis fans all have 3-pin cables (usually only actually having 2 wires). You then have the option of plugging them into any 3-pin chassis fan headers on the motherboard (you only have one) for the motherboard to control the voltage, or using adaptors to plug them into a molex connector in which case they will always run at 100% speed.

CPU fans do come in 3 or 4-pin varieties (they're not all 4-pin by fault). Two pins are for power, one for voltage control and the other for RPM sensors (if I remember). My cooler actually has two 3-pin connectors - one for the pump and one for the fan attached to the radiator. Just to note, the CPU fan header is ONLY for the CPU fan - this is important because it's directly responsible for safety functions built into BIOS to keep the CPU from burning itself.

As for the 4-pin peripheral cable you have... could you take a picture of it? The only 4-pin cables I've ever seen are either for Front Panel USB ports or for speakers.

Stupid suggestion, but if it's not booting have you actually connected a hard drive with an OS ? Only asking as you never once mentioned HDDs in the previous posts.......

Lack of HDDs only makes the system seek an alternative boot source, such as live CDs or USB drives. Doesn't affect anything else (other than power draw).

Ay yes, but it wouldn't "boot", would it ? My point remains valid. For all we know he hasn't even connected up a monitor.

Wow. everything else is connected in the right place. And I've connected the "floppy" cable onto the cha_fan connector before with absolutely no problems whatsoever. The fan controller and power led molex connect to the molex connectors on the "floppy" power supply cable. No problems at all

Oh my god please no._.

Your front panel is properly connected, psu switched on, w0+4, 4+4, and any pcie power for any video cards is connected, right? Cpu and ram are all properly seated?

Does it even POST at this point?

*sigh* There's nothing wrong with the power supply. That's how my old board (Asus p7h55 M Pro) was configured. There was no other way for me to power all 4 intake and exhaust fans to one cha_fan connector hence the fan controller and power led molex (male) connected to the female molex connectors on the "floppy drive" power supply cable. I've had that configuration for MONTHS with no problems whatsoever. Maybe it's just the motherboard...

Fine, how would you configure 4 intake and exhaust fans to the motherboard with only one chassis fan connector? I found this configuration from a tut online (guy had my pc case and recommended to power the fans through the molex connectors on the power supply cable which did in fact work)

EDIT: If it helps more in this situation, here's some more details

Case: NZXT Lexa S case

Motherboard: ASUS P7H55 M LE

Power Supply: Corsair TX650 watt (Non modular)

I've already shown this info on the details of the question but just in case you didn't noticed (or didn't even read)

I just bought an Evercool EC-DF002 fan adapter which supports up to 5 fans and includes a molex to connect to the power supply.

What exactly will I connect with the fan adapter and where will it connect to exactly?

I just can't figure out whether the 3 pin CPU fan should go on the 4 pin CPU_FAN connector and the power supply cable with the 4 pin onto the CHA_FAN connector.
the power supply cable with the 4 pin doesn't belong there, that's why you're not supposed to figure about that and this is also why there's no mention of it in any manual.

The fan controller and power led molex connect to the molex connectors on the "floppy" power supply cable. No problems at all
The power led connector should go on the power led pin out on the mobo, which sits next to the hdd led and power button pin out. And you said you read the manual?
beside, how can you fit the small power led connector on the big molex pin, those pin are almost bigger than the connector.
I actually wonder if you connected any of the front panel stuff correctly

more info on pages 1-10 to 1-12 of your mobo's manual

As I illustrated, working from the bottom to the top, that bottom 4 pin female lead is gonna go to cha_fan on your mobo. The big 4 pin (2 pin really) connector gets hooked to any of your 4 pin molex PSU leads. The other 3 connectors are where your fans plug in.

Edit - also, not sure where you got 5 fans, it only supports 3. If you got it off of newegg, their page lists that it has "5 connectors" which may be where you were mislead.
