Am I the only one who thinks nintendo should allow people who own Ambassador 3ds's to trade them in for an XL free of charge.
I mean free virtual console games were great and all, but I'd rather have the bigger system, and it seems unfair how we all got jipped with their whole 300$ release date charge, and how if we choose to trade in our current 3ds, we wont even get near enough credit to purchase the new model.

Being an ambassador just has no perks at all and I thought they promised us more benefits down the road after the virtual console games, but so far they haven't even mentioned the word Ambassador since the GBA VC release.

Who agrees with me?

My getting a upgrade for free side screams "YES!", but my logic side screams that's a terrible idea business wise. Nintendo really didn't have to give you those games at all, they were a bonus. I suggest the best thing to do, is sell your 3DS now before the XL comes out. I did that before the price drop with my old 3DS, was able to get $200 before the drop to $160.

this just sounds completely ridiculous to give a free hardware upgrade to a system you bought over a year ago
its your fault for being an early adopter and paying nintendo to be their public beta testers

Err...they gave you at least $80 worth of games to compensate, and you accepted. So um...you didn't get "jipped"

i don't think that some old gba and nes games are worth even $40, don't want to sound like a fanboy but where are the pokemon games wich everyone with a GBA loved? If we had those i would pay even more than 80 dollars

Well free of charge is an over exageration I suppose, but really its not really bad marketing, seeing as how you'd be trading in your current 3ds, giving up the rights to those virtual console games and such. I mean I never really even wanted those games anyway, the only reason I have them is because they just sorta gave em to us because they felt bad.

Anyways, was just an idea that popped into my head today. Would it ever happen? No, do I think it should yes. Why be called an Ambassador if it doesnt give you any benefits throughout the life of the 3ds.

Sounds like a very odd and random idea.

If anything, i'd wish Nintendo would find a way to make transferring Ambassador status much easier for anyone planning to upgrade. Most Gamestops wont let you do it instore, which means that you'd have to have both systems in hand at the same time.

Nope. They just said that we would received 10 GBA games and 10 NES games by the end of 2011. I don't know why you thought otherwise.

I bought my 3DS day one, and I didn't expect any free games or anything.

They never made you buy a 3DS, and it was pretty easy to see this coming just by looking at Nintendo's past releases.

Is anyone else getting sick and tired of hearing the ambassadors complain every 10 minutes?
Honestly, stfu.
You were happy to pay the launch price when you did. Obviously you considered the system worth that value since you paid for it when it cost that much.
Yes I understand you're mad you paid way more, but NINTENDO DIDNT HAVE TO GIVE YOU ANYTHING.
They owe you NOTHING.
And everyone complains the virtual console games dont make up for it. I guess getting nothing in return would be better.
This is getting so freaking annoying to read everywhere.
And also, the XL isnt an upgrade and you arent losing out on anything by having the original model. The original wont be getting phased out, and the XL has NO added features, just bigger screens.

EDIT:
I realized my post seemed like I was ranting about all ambassadors. In case its not clear, I'm only referring to the ungrateful ones who complain every 5 minutes about something else they "deserve".

That's good to know how much you value the games, but Nintendo valued them at $80, and anyone who accepted well...accepted. Nintendo didn't have to waste their time and money to develop these (even if the NES games were going to be released anyways).

Okay, well hear my reasoning, while it may sound silly it's just my opinion.
Well for one, when loyal nintendo fans were first out to buy the system, it was valued at around 300$
A well kept system, while used, if kept in great condition, within only a little over a years time, if the system is still being sold for the same value as when it was released
it should be still worth the same amount in value.
Nintendo on the other hand, after 6 months time, cut the systems value in half, thereby everyone that bought it before hand has now lost half the value in something
they paid money for gone straight to the hands of nintendo.
Nintendo in response gives us 20 free games, that not only have gone down in value over the years due to being outdated to make up for the loss that we paid for,
but in reality it was to shut us up and make sure they didn't lose loyal customers.
While I do think free of charge for a system upgrade is unrealistic, I think it would compensate for the 150$ in value you already have for a well kept system
but will also compensate for the price difference we originally paid for. While its an upgrade, it is NOT a difference in hardware, because it's the same exact system, just bigger screens, which is what I wanted from the beginning. This is just my opinion, just thought i'd share if to see if fellow members agreed or not.

I face palmed.

I had NO idea your definition of "correct" was the exact same definition as Nintendo and everyone else in the world. Just because you didn't get value out of the completely free and optional on Nintendo's part games doesn't mean nobody else did. When I had an Ambassador 3DS, I was completely shocked and definitely satisfied when they offered free games because I paid more for a system. (Actually, I only paid $180 cuz I had a DSi and some games I was trading in towards it, but meh).

In short, the only reason the $80 value was there is because Nintendo felt bad enough to give us free stuff cuz we gave them more money than they should have gotten.

a quick answer to the 1st post is ....wait .....wait....here it comes....NO. I bought my machine on day one and i feel like nintendo did right by me. The only question or concern i have with the 3DS will be can i transfer those GBA and NES games over to my newly purchased XL?

You can apparently. Someone bought my Ambassador 3DS so they could just transfer all of the GBA and NES games to their 3DS.

I agree with this statement. Nintendo owns us a lot for being the first. lol

I mean yeah sure but the specs are the same as a $50 model, it's just those pesky "quality of life" things driving up the price, like an actually working speaker, or buttons that don't melt, and stuff like that.

I think all in my Pi 4 was well north of 200 bucks 150ish for the Pi 4 the case the fancy cooler, then like 70 for the 500GB MicroSD then like 70 for the Xbox controller. But honestly it's a nice set up I really enjoy and to me was worth every penny. (even bought more controllers for 2 or 4 player games.) hmmm have never played any 2 player games yet :(
  • Veho @ Veho:
Yeah that's what I hate about the RPi, it's supposedly $30 or something but it takes an additional $200 of accessories to actually turn it into a working something.

yes that's the expensive part lol

Yeah a lot of it I consider a hobby, using Batocera I am constantly adjusting the collection adding and removing stuff, scraping the artwork. Haven't even started on some music for the theme... Also way down the road I am considering attempting to do a WiiFlow knock off lol
