While we wait for the next several hours, Pokemon trivia!
- Since Pokemon came to be, we've seen 50 Pokemon titles come into existence with the latest introduction of Black 2/White 2 (potentially 51 counting that smartphone thing, but eh).
- Not counting double releases for each gen (Red/Blue, Ruby/Sapphire, etc.), there are 41 or 42 unique Pokemon titles (Gen I was a touch confusing to try to figure).
- Both of the above include console and handheld releases.
- That's approximately 3.125 games released per year since the original release of Generation I in 1996 in Japan.
- In comparison, we've seen 17 Call of Duty games since 2003, including handheld releases and half-assed console releases back when the main series was PC only (primarily CoD 1 and 2). ~1.9 per year.
- Legend of Zelda titles are somewhere in the neighborhood of 26, including ALL titles, since 1986. That comes out to a one game per year average. This includes CD-i, LCD, and G&D releases.
- Since Generation III, we've seen approximately one(/two) mainline Pokemon game(s), whether it be a modified remake or new game, every single year.
Gotta give Nintendo some props for milking the cash cow so heavily, and still being able to hook people with each new release.
