I bought this DS lite off Priceangels a while ago, and have had it for a month. Last time I used it successfully was around monday or tuesday. Yesterday, when I was in bed, I tried to turn it on for gaemz, but the only thing that turned on was the green light. The DS itself didn't do anything.

I tried again with headphones plugged in, and sure enough, it's not just the screens that don't work, the start-up chime doesn't even play.

How do?

Is the DS Lite a legit Nintendo product and not some ripoff? Also does the green light stay on or does it shut off after 1-2 seconds?

It is refurbished, so I guess I couldn't have hoped for much. Though it bricking itself after a month is kinda shitty, even for a refurbished DS.
And the light stays on. Forever.

Do you have Flashme installed by chance? Sounds like something messed with the BIOS or the BIOS just completely died (which is replaceable). Or maybe Flashme was already installed on the refurbished DS Lite and something got messed up? Just taking some guesses here. If you have a flashcart, put it into your DS and hold down Select + Start and power on the system. It SHOULD load directly to your flashcart in Slot-1 and from there you can play games and/or reinstall/uninstall Flashme and everything should be fixed.

Normally signs of a DS Lite not powering on is because of the F2 fuse blew out but the signs for that are the green LED turns off after 1-2 seconds and even the orange charging light does the same thing. But in your case it sounds like some messed up BIOS.

If booting the DS up while holding Select + Start doesn't work, the best choice is to just buy a new BIOS chip (I have an extra one that I could send but you live in Brazil which sucks) and just replace it by opening the DS Lite up. Or, if you're even slightly interested, you could send me the DS Lite to repair for you because I know the insides of the DS Lite like I know the back of my hand. But after searching some this website is selling the part you need for $5.

In short terms, your DS Lite is fixable

. Here is a picture by the way of what needs replacing. The ONE thing that sucks about replacing the BIOS is that all your friend codes are stored on that for every one of your games so on the new BIOS you would need to get another friend code etc. But you might not need to replace it if you can boot into the flashcarts menu by holding down Start + Select.

Yep, the start + select thing doesn't work... I'm not sure. I'll contact Priceangels and see if they can replace it.
