Is it me or are people not reading the statement properly? This feature is only implented into the 3.56, so if you're on 3.55 CFW nothing's going to happen to you since you've got no access to PSN other than the proxy way. What he's basically saying is if 3.56 CFW is made and any one of you updates to it to use it will be detected by Sony.
I'm mad that I can't even go and get demo's to new games or go to the storefront - where I could maybe BUY something - without accepting what is basically an intrusive and needless update.GameWinner said:

I'm mad at Sony for unapologetically creating an update that blocks and bricks a bunch of legit devices in a ham-fisted way of trying to block jailbreaking the system. It manages to be almost as bad - if not worse - than the lovely rootkitted music CD's they pressed out to unsuspecting buyers.
And I'm mad that Sony neutered the PS3 as a whole, ensuring that I have to pay whatever they want to charge for ransom if this thing YLOD's, which after having one do so, I'm already more afraid of that than my 360 red ringing. And at least with the Xbox, I'm NOT losing functionality or usability for going with a newer model. I'd be glad to pack it up and sell it off and just go with emulation on my PC, if any of the PS1/2 emulators ever worked right.
All this does is make me want to buy MORE on Xbox Live marketplace just to spite them. Voting with my wallet, as they say.

You're coming at this all wrong. If his argument was about pirating, it wouldn't be an issue, because he'd just get his games that way. But on the other hand, the loudest voice is just not to purchasee/use their products if you don't like their policies and actions.

I love how the psp problem wasn't touched like this at all tho. Sony doesn't care ever since NGP ;P
This will hopefully deter people from hacking their consoles in the future. You can't possibly expect a company to just take this abuse....
If you switch back to OFW you'll probably be safe from console bans tho (if they happen). Sony might be forgiving. Just use the wipe tool they made a few weeks ago. (Idr the name...) BUT then again, with the growing PS3 hacking community there could be a fix quite soon.

Currently ticked now that X-Men arcade is out... the six-players on one console functionality was the one reason I wanted to buy it for PS3 as opposed to Xbox 360. Only reason that I hadn't bought it on 360 yet is because it's 800 MSP as opposed to 400 it was, all too briefly.
Also, it is a different thing compared to Microsoft's setup. With the Xbox, even if the console got banned, that doesn't stop you from running newer games; at most you might need to update the dash, like for Kinect and stuff, but you can still use the console. Online multiplayer is pretty low on my priorities... I use the online aspects of both systems more for trying out new demos and download-only games to see what would be worth my dollars, despite what the other poster accuses me of.
I also am a firm believer in the principle that once you purchase something, it's for you to do as you see fit, so long as it isn't harming anyone else directly. I appreciate the homebrew being made for Wii and ps3 currently, and I also firmly agree that those that choose to cheat online should be banned swiftly. But for god's sake, how about some middle ground here? I'm not asking about pirating PSN titles or running aimbots or something here. I just want to be able to at least access the storefront and actually be able to buy some newer games. But some people on this thread apparently don't get that.
