Great program, but i do have a question, been reading thru the forum and cant find it

When i convert an iso, to wbfs, and download the covers, and put them on the HDD, when i load USB loader, it doesnt show the covers....and i cant figure out why, or how they need to go..

i figure it has to do with something like this

cover_display=none

but dont know for sure...

Thanks

Is there any way to start the program by showing the games list sorted by game count without having to do so everytime?

At first big sorry for the double post, here is the next forwarder update:
The forwarder is now in v7!
Changes:
-Re-added InitVideo
-Added NTFS support, it's stable
-Will go back to system menu if the dol file not found, in previous versions the wii simply crashed
laugh.gif

-Can now show code dumps, in previous version a code dump was there, but not displayed
wink.gif

Download:
USBLoaderCFG - UCXF - IOS58 v7.wad
USBLoaderCFG - UCXF - IOS58 v7 Alternative.wad

FIX94 where can't I get the dol to the new fowarder. I have it loaded into prii-loader and don't use it as a channel.

Do you mean play count? If so:

sort = play_count-asc

OR

sort = play_count-desc

depending which order you want them in.

QUOTE(tHeWiZaRdOfDoS @ Jan 4 2011, 02:08 AM) How about offering the possibility to chose/replace the startup screen?

This is frequently asked and answered. It's impossible as the SD/USB is initialised too late in the process to load the image. We have 4 pre-compiled options for you to choose from via the intro option and it will likely stay that way.

When I am playing a game with Configurable USB Loader and pause the game and then turn off my Wii using the Power button (on the WiiRemote or on the Wii itself), my external USB Hard-Drive does some weird sound just like when it is reading/writing something and there's a power failure and it stops spinning abruptly...

I'm not exactly sure, but I think that would probably damage/corrupt the Hard-Drive in the long term...

So, I would like to know if it was possible for example to "hijack" the Shutdown button (both on the Wii and the WiiRemote) callback function to perform a safe Un-Mount of the hard-drive just before the Wii shuts down!

I think it would be a pretty useful feature to extend the life of the HDD!

To avoid this problem, when I finish to play a game I run Neogamma, without a DVD in the drive. Since my HDD is formatted in FAT32 (unsupported by Neogamma), the program unmounts correctly my HDD (it didn't find playable partitions), then I unplug it before exiting NG (if you exit before unplugging, the HDD will turn on again) and then I shut down my Wii.

cios 222-mload v4

Hi, 222-v62b2 worked fine, but moving to 222-v62b3 caused an exception CSI blah blah blah error on loading. (The most recent version that uses cios 249 is 60, but I gave up on that some time ago.) All versions since 222-v62b3 cause the exception. One of the thing that make my setup unusual is that I have a 4k sector drive. (You might recall fixing this a few month ago? You're still the only usb loader to work with 4k sector drives AFAIK.

) I'm wondering if one of the "Minor clean ups" in the change log caused this?
I have revisited the changes between v62b2 and v62b3 and i find it rather unlikely that any of that cleanups could have caused this, the cleanups were mostly removing some old comments and moving functions a little bit around, but mostly no actual functional changes were done.
However in versions between 62a2 and 62b there were partition related changes, because of the ext2fs support. Maybe it broke even earlier than 62b2?
I would suggest just taking the latest 62 release or 63a2, and when the crash happens make a screenshot and post it so i can see the stack dump numbers, and let me know exactly which binary you have used.
maybe trying v62-debug and making a couple of screenshots with the debugs on screen could give me some info too...
Hi oggzee, here are the screenshots. http://public.fotki.com/mossywell/public/c...b3-222-jpg.html and http://mossywell.fotki.com/public/cfg/cfg62-dbg-jpg.html
To confirm, 62b2 works fine but 62b3 onwards crash. The screenshot names tell you which binary was being used. The debug screen is the last one before it goes bang!
Hope that helps - and sorry it's taken so long!

Maybe it's a corrupted image, since it crashes when converting a png to an internal image format (see below)
Can you verify that, by removing or moving the covers directory to covers-tmp or something and running it again...?

Thx for your reply... though I doubt that! You could try and check for "intro.jpg" in .dol directory. If it exists: load it - if not: fall back to default. As the .dol is already loaded from the (initialised) device, this should be possible... but of course it's of low prio.

OK - I deleted all the covers, but same problem. Here's a screenshot running the debug version, which bombs out at the same point (but this time, I grabbed a screen after it had bombed out): http://public.fotki.com/mossywell/public/c...-dbg-2-jpg.html

Apparently my external Segate drive isn't spinning up when using Wanin's CIOS with base 56. Although it does work if I unplug/replug the power cord. .
222-mload spins up the drive fine, after which 249 works fine. Would it be possible to use 222 to spin up the drive initially but still have 249 be the default for games?

Yes, use cfg-222.dol but add ios=249 to config.txt
It will do what you asked but i don't know if that will help.

Ok thanks for trying that out.
I will probably have more questions and things to try out for you later, maybe I'll just PM you..

You doubt what? It's just as Clipper said, by the time we get to loading things from SD at least half of the init is already done, half of that time the intro was already displaying, you can look at the debug.log it includes times as well...

Nope, didn't help.

tongue.gif

why would anybody do the above mentioned???
you don't turn a computer off (with hardware power button) while a game is in pause...
the Wii is nothing else than a computer...
How do you turn off your Wii then?
rolleyes.gif

Apart of the Shutdown buttons on the Wii and on the WiiRemote, the only other way I can remember of is the "Shutdown" option in the HBC menu!
tongue.gif

(Perhaps a similar option should be present in CFG too!

Sorry for the misunderstanding. I doubt that it's impossible to do because - as I said - once the .dol is found, read and started we should know the "working directory", don't we? If that's the case, we could simply check for an image and display that one instead of the hardcoded one (if available)... it's not such a big issue just for the splash that's just displayed for a few seconds but anyways... it would - again - be nice2have.
