I was expecting you how_do_i_do_that. Thanks for your feedback.Allen_S said:Hello, I just ask a friend to test the tool with an "EZ 3in1 Plus" ... told me to get the following message on screen:
Nor Flash id=0x227e2218
start SRAM verify
SRAM check done. Data written to SRAM
***Finished OK***
He uses R4 (firmware 1.18) + GbaExpLoader 0.58b
Oh no .... I just said to run "verify.nds" it appears:
Nor Flash id = 0x89168916
SRAM start verify
verify Err: Add = 0, S = 74, D = a8
Although its cartridge save part perfectly .... but hey, that's what it appears.
Well, I guess it's over ..... if there is any miracle solution please tell me ...
The write.nds file store the content of testsram.gba into the 3in1's SRAM and read it to see if it match. If it doesn't match, then you get an error.
The purpose of the verify.nds file is to see if the SRAM content is still here after powered OFF the DS. If your friend have an error at this test, then he has probably a battery failure.
It should be something like this on a 3in1+:sonic0509 said:According to the component's pdf, the Renesas (Mitsubishi) M6MGB163-S4BTP is a stacked memory NOR + SRAM.Mbmax said:@sonic0509 : i will check that, but my first feeling is that it's the NOR memory component.
So I can throw it away and use only rumble and RAM?
This component is probably used to store GBA games in NOR and GBA saves in the SRAM part.
Yep, it should work for opera ram and rumble, but forget any GBA games in PSRAM mode because you don't have the SRAM part anymore for GBA saves.

I get the same results on a non-fake R4.

i doubt it's tied to that homebrew, but who knows ...Allen_S said:Hello .... I would ask if this file would work with "EZ 3in1 Plus "....

What is the utility of that file ... by what I read is for the formatting from the SRAM or am I wrong?
No, no need to format a SRAM memory. You make a mistake since the beginning in your problem. It's not a flash memory failure that you have, but a SRAM problem.
BTW, this file just fill the SRAM with 00 pattern and need to be used with GBAexploader.
I doubt it will do some miracle because cory1492 tool does almost the same thing + compare the content written.
QUOTE(Allen_S @ Jan 27 2010, 10:23 PM) If it were not compatible could create a tool compatible with "EZ 3in1 Plus"??
Thank you very much for everything, is that this post will provide users much ... and if they can learn from my experience that's fine.
The "pocketnes.gba" you recommend using with "EZ 3in1 Plus?? because that was the source of my problem ... I think it is inappropriate to use it.
Thanks.
gymfish said:I managed to fix this problem by sticking a thin piece of card inside the cartridge under the edge where the contact pins are. Just ran sram test and it verified ok. I also tried saving a game and that worked fine too. Quite a relief after changing the battery and almost buying a new card.
Ok. This solution didn't last long. I think the card is fried. Even in a GBA (after cutting the case down) the game runs but will not save.
we dont have to patch games with EEPROM saves, i tested aladdin EUR that uses eeprom saves and it saves fine, and i loaded my saves normaly they havent been corruptedhow_do_i_do_that said:On the gba side, there are about 12 or so different save types while the DS only has 1.
If you got a EEPROM save type game, you will need to SRAM patch the game before use or your saves will be corupt all the time. Or any game that gives you save coruption problems.
You should be using the EZ4 client program to patch the gba rom. You can get it here:
http://filetrip.net/f4753-EZ4-Client-2009-04-03.html
Not at gba flashcarts support every save type so patch is needed. same with RTC. Then there are those gba carts with built in rumble or some light sensor, etc, those require patching too.
To find out what games use EEPROM, use the G-online:
http://gbatemp.net/newgon/?dat=gba
Then look at the bottom to find out what the save type is used by the game like so:
PS: Everyone with a GBA flashcart has been through this.
