Hey guys, got an annoying problem, d-pad rubber wore out (was split around the contacts when I did replace it finally), had to press extremely hard to the left to get it to work in that direction, other directions never really had an issue , so got the replacement d-pad part and went through the shit process of opening it up and putting it back together without breaking anything

But, left now works only a bit better :S instead of pressing really hard to make it go left it's more like press medium now... even with the new part, any suggestions on what else could be causing it to do this? all the other directions work great, only light touch and they respond, but left is still stubborn, is the part underneath bent or too low? should I prop it up or something :S I dunno, but it sux to replace it yet still didnt fix it properly.

Any one else have this problem?

When you replaced the rubber - did you clean the copper contacts on the circuit board as well ??

Although I've not had this problem with a DS - I did have problems with another gizmo which had a similar control pad with a similar problem.

After stripping that down & cleaning the copper tracks with an alcohol solution (IIRC I think I used some tape or CD lens cleaning solution) the controls were more 'responsive' for a while

It can act as a swap drive but that isn't more RAM, it's slooow.
