Hardware Some games not working with original wiikey and 4.3U

Hi everyone,

I'm new so I apologize in advance if this is posted in the wrong place or if I have broken any protocols.

Anyway, I have the original wiikey and have been running my backup games fine from the disk channel for ages. Last weekend, I had some friends over and many of the games wouldn't work (error, cannot read disk). My wii firmware was 4.1U. I did an update, so now I'm at 4.3U, and the same thing happens. I then went and updated wiikey to 1.99 and those same games are coming up with the black error screen (please eject and reset wii). I rarely use my wii, so I don't know when it was last working normally, or what, if any, Nintendo system updates I may have done in the meantime.

I have never done any software modding, and don't want to use any SD loading options as I have many backups on disk that I want to use.

Is there a way to get these backup games working again from the disk channel. I've been searching for hours and haven't found anything (or maybe I have, but just didnt understand it).

First, you should never update your firmware to 4.3.

Second, it is possible that your DVD drive is dirty. Get an official cleaning kit to see if that works.

Third, if all else fails, your only option of loading backup from disc channel would be DarkCorp. You need a way to launch homebrew.

Thanks for the reply. I will try cleaning the drive to see if that makes a difference. So definitely 4.3U and original wiikey are incompatible?
