Anyways, I use a Furret (Sentret's evolution) as my HM slave, but if you want an HM slave that can also learn Fly I would recommend a Tropius, however, you would need to trade it in.

Corsela, for Surf/Whirlpool/Strength/Waterfall. Other than that, I have no idea. I mostly use paras, for cut. (I believe he can use flash too)
Edit: Oh yeah, corsela can also learn those rock HM's

At below: Sandshrew is a nice idea, gonna catch him.

Sandshrew is good for Cut, Rock Smash, Rock Climb and Strength. Those are 4 of the most commonly-need HMs, I think. Surf and Fly are useful enough on their own that you don't need a slave for them, and Waterfall and Whirlpirl are rarely needed at all.

Krabby is the best SLAVE

Learns Cut, Surf, Rock Smash, Strengh and Whirlpool. To catch use a Good Rod in Olivine City.

Back in the day I used bibael and tropius for all 8 hms, but tropius & golduck or was it psyduck? works as well to fill all 8 slots.

definitely setup gyarados w/ all the water based HMs
and i use onix/steelix for strength/rock smash/rock climb

i recommed bibarel, ferret or linoone for cut, surf, strength, rock smash & whirlpool(HGSS) where bibarel is the most usefull HM slave because he can also learn waterfall and rock climb

Skarmory is also a recommed HM slave because he can learn cut, fly, defog and rock smash meaning u can learn other important HM for the other 3

Geodude + Pokesav = Profit!!!

That's the Pokemon I use, I basically just use Pokesav and learn any Pokemon I want the most useless HMs.

well at least for cut,rock smash, strength you could use rattata or raticate, no wasteage for a good pokemon.. dunno if it'll learn rock climb though as i still haven't progressed that far yet.. and for water realated HM's you could use Quagsire it can learn strength too as far i remeber..
