got to be spirit tracks... usually when i get a game i never stick much with it but Legend of Zelda is an exception!!!

oh and my mom just found out what i've been doing for 3 years was pirating (of some sort)
so she's mad xD

Edit: I just read some people are disapointed in Spirit Tracks and I do realize that the game does not look much different from phantom hourglass

(world divided in 4 with teleports and a special temple to visit in each, limited actions during travel (can't get off the train/boat to do some other stuff, always have to keep coming back to the tower/temple)

But the story and the setting is fun

Haven't played too many good 2009 games yet. So many on hold

Pokemon: Heart Gold definitely.

Even though I only got to play to the first gym (because of the translation patch) it brought back so many epic memories of my childhood. I spent >300 hours playing Pokemon Gold as a kid and caught like ALL the pokemanz.

As an honorable mention, I'd like to add Might and Magic. It's definitely one of the better games of this year, but sadly, it's not a well known title (or to my knowledge it isn't). The puzzle/strategy factor (or whatever it's called) is quite intriguing and innovative! Got me hooked pretty fast.

Yeah, i'm a big HoMM and MM fan, and i thought this would be a good game, but it's way better then i expected, and i can't stop playing it.

Lot of Good Games released this year but to me the ones that i actually sticked with all the way till the end have got to be my favourites of 2009! As most i got halfway through and just gave up bored. So my games of 2009 have to be :-

5) Shin Megami Tensei :- Devil Survivor
4) Henry Hatsworth
3) Zelda : Spirit Tracks (even if it is just an exact clone of phantom hourglass but with a train)
2) Mario and Luigi :- Bowsers Inside Story

* Drum Roll *

1) Dragon Quest V :- Hand of the Heavenly Bride

My Number 1 definetly has to be DQV best RPG of the year even if it was a remake. Everything about this game was just awesome to me which is not really suprising as DQIV was my game of the year in 2008! XD

Yeah, someone mentioned early on in this thread -- and it might have even been you, I don't remember -- that the year wasn't yet over. Clash of Heroes could definitely be my game of the year. I mentioned both Bowser's Inside Story and Chinatown Wars, but Heroes is doing something very new, very innovative, and it's a whole lot of fun. I've tinkered with Spirit Tracks a bit, but honestly, it's been hard to pull myself away from Clash of Heroes. I'm almost done with the main story, and I'll be sad to see it come to an end. For me, it hits that high note I was hoping Scribblenauts would have hit in terms of innovation.

I agree on KH 358/2 Days
I have played only chains of memories b4 and hadn't many specific expectations about KH
well graphically it's surely on the top of my list, but I also liked the gameplay and story was ok aswell

No one in particular but quite a few I'd have to nominate.

358/2 days was decent but not GOTY worthy by any means.

Let's see...some unusual picks
biggrin.gif

In no special order:

Rittai Picross
Henry Hatsworth
Pokemon Soul Silver (being a pokemon fanatic and silver/gold being still the best generation of it)
Maestro! Jump in Music (very unique and quite fun)
FE: Shadow Dragon (I do adore tactics rpgs)
Dark Spire (not for everyone but the art style and music were fantastic)
Fossil Fighters (addictive and fun)
SMT: Devil Survivor
Knights in the Nightmare
Rhythm Heaven

Split between Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days and Knights in the Nightmare. Different games in their own right, so I can't really compare them. Guess I have two. =P
