So, if i have a modchip and if i don't own any of those stuff like usb loader or modified ios, i can't play at the moment New Super Mario Bros. Nice.
I have a 4.2e system, should i use pimp my wii to "upgrade" my ios? And how?
I'm such a noobish

On page 191, I posted how I got it working on my modchip. I was same configuration as you (except I was 4.2U because I'm in the USA.)
And believe me, I totally lost on all this too. It's really easy to get working if you have a modchip. All you need is an SD card and the utilies that
I mentioned in my earlier post (and of course a blank DVD-R to burn the patched ISO) and you'll be playing NSMBW in no time!

I'm running a softmod 4.1, with Neogamma R7 IOS249 (Rev14). I've also tried Neogamma R6 and R8 Beta 11 & 12 with no luck. IOS249 (a.k.a IOS38 rev 14) is on the system, also recently ran PimpMyWii to clean up the IOS's.

The game copies have stated the patch has been applied. I've tried these game copies but get a green screen when ran.

- New Super Mario Bros / Patched / Scrubbed Wii Pal
- New SUPER MARIO BROS. Wii.[NTSC][USA][PATCHED]
- [Wii]New_Super_Mario_Bros_Wii[PAL][FullISO][WiiSOS.com]
- Super_Mario_Bros[NTSC][FIX]

Does anyone have an suggestions as to what I may be doing wrong?

Softmodded 3.2u

Installed CIOS249 rev14 and tried loading from NeoGammaR8 beta 12 with default config settings and still didn't load the game. Tried loading from neogamma again changing the settings and still didn't work.

I seriously don't know what to do to get this game working I've tried a lot of things but nothing seems to work. Haven't tried cIOSCORP yet. before I do I will try NeoGamma R7

Got two question
I have a 4.2u softmodded wii, I borrowed the NSMB wii retail disc from a friend of mine.
1) Question is that the disc has an update thingy, im running 4.2u.. is it possible to rip the game with configurable usb loader and run it without patching the game?
2) will the update have any effect on my wii?
sorry still kinda nub to this

After you cklicked on Load CD-Image File, you have to change CD Images to All Files (*.*). You can then select your main.dol.

And here's another Link to it:

Attention: Untested. May contain viruses! Use at your own risk! I hope the Filetrip Download is soon up again

1) Yes! Use the newest version and it will work without any problem.
2) If you updated through Nintendo, then I guess not...it has the 4.1 Update in it.

The 4.2U update is targeted strictly at piracy. Don't install it unless you HAVE to. It will uninstall HBC completely, and will kill the ability to run certain homebrew apps. It will also disable the ability to play other regions (i.e: NTSC Wii cannot play PAL and PAL Wii cannot play NTSC anymore.) I'm not sure about installing WADs, as I have no experience with them.

As for 4.1, I did not have any problems with anything when I had the 4.1 update. Just when I went to 4.2

well then i dont have anything to worry about then right? cause the disc has 4.1u... atleast thats what ive read.

can anyone answer that question for me? thanks guys.

Other than the boot2 update (which wipes out BootMii as boot2, if installed...), you have nothing to fear. The game does indeed carry the 4.1 update (safety not guaranteed for the MIA Japanese release).

I have never used the HBC I only have a D2Pro so could you explain what you did (back on page 191) so I can install the softmods that are necessary. I am not sure how you install the utilities that you are talking about. I know I am a complete noob here but all the soft mod stuff has me baffled.

I couldn't get it to run with any NeoGamma on my 4.1E. I'm also on rev14, and for me it works with uLoader 3.1 - perhaps give that a try ?

My game (NTSC) freezes up whenever I finish the World 2 castle and go to World 3. I have no other problem (already beaten the game and unlocked several levels in World 9), but the game absolutely refuses to play World 3.

I'm using a softmod with a patched ISO and a burned disc. I considered the possibility that the disc may have been bad, but my other copies of the game failed as well. Anybody else get this problem?

i have a legit question

i dont have a dvd burner on this cpu at moment

but since i have original and have played to world 2 and have a save file in that world

i have a wiikey v1 NTSC 4.1u 1.9s update - Nothing else no CIOS HBC none at all - i play 1:1 backups without need

if i use the proper patch do u think i would be able to run a backup now ? has anyone tried this ?

also wondering if there's a backup disc out there that someone has removed what is stopping all modchip systems not read disc ?

Any word on chip teams making updates or will someone be able to make the game backup playable without CIOS or Neogamma ?

There. Now behave you guys. XD
Best results with unpatched iso(best to learn how to do it on your own, that way you won't need to ask and be as helpless; btw, you patch the game partition, not the update partition{this game wants WiiFW 4.1x})

Alright. I've been reading this long post for days.

I have a 3.4U nstc wii, with wiikey1 and decided to softmod the machine to be able to play this game (and use usb loaders to stop burning discs)

Used these steps to mod : http://forums.afterdawn.com/t.cfm/f-154/4_...2_guide-797772/

Using that I installed HBC, bootmii, used these from nusd to get waninkoko 249 thing
IOS15-64-v257.wad
IOS15-64-v266.wad
IOS36-64-v3094.wad
IOS38-64-v3610.wad

then made my wii 4.0U. then patched the IOS60 as directed.

So....i've tried cfg, neogamma, wiiflow, usb loader gx. last versions i could find. The rest of games tested work fine, so i know the USB loaders are working.

but for nsmb....same result all the time, when hitting A to finally load the game....a damn black screen (is it the same green screen some say?). Used the error 2 fix option, in combination with force ntsc, or just one or the other...no luck

I use this one ws_nsmbw_ntsc.iso i downloaded last week. I also patched the dol myself using hex editor....no good.

Anyone with the same that could gimme a piece of advice. kinda frustrated here......

I got the game to actually run but 3-5 minutes into it, I get an error (I believe it's referred to as "General Error").

Release NTSC console (DMS) 4.1U
Unpatched NTSC ISO released by QWIIF
Chipped with Cyclowiz v1
Running Wiiflow 1.1 to play almost all games.
Had to update to cIOS38r15 just to get the game to even run.

I read... 20 or so pages of this thread and almost no mention of something similar to my situation other than this current page with no resolve. Please help.

This isn't working for me, it's driving me nuts. I upgraded to cios 36 rev 14, I updated my usbloader gx to r842.dol, and whenever I run the game through usbloader, the screen just flickers.. Goes from black to a whole bunch of tiny colored lines and then black again. Not sure how to fix it.

EDIT: Just used error 2 fix and it works.. Unfortunately, there's a small delay between my button presses and the game. It's kinda laggy, and it makes it so hard to play :/

Sure, I will do my best to desribe exactly what I did.

Step 1) Install HBC (Follow directions here, click the link on the page for "my firmware version is 4.2" http://gwht.wikidot.com/homebrew-channel)

Step 2) Download and extract Trucha restorer 1.1 to your SD card.
Go to Homebrew Channel and run the Trucha Restorer.
Press B (This will set No IOS Reload). Now wait a while (till the text changes) and press 1.
Choose Downgrade IOS15.
Now you have to choose Download IOS from NUS two times.
It will do its thing and return to the HBC.

Step 3) Run Trucha Restorer again.
Change the IOS to IOS15 and press A.
Wait for the text to change and press 1.
Go to the IOS53 menu.
Make sure it is set to PATCH the IOS.
Change the option to Download from NUS and press A.
Once its done it will quit to the HBC again.

Step 4) Run Trucha Restorer again.
Change the IOS to IOS15 and press A.
Wait for the text to change and press 1.
Go to the IOS70 menu.
Make sure it is set to PATCH the IOS.
Change the option to Download from NUS and press A.
Once its done it will quit to the HBC again.

Step 5) Run Trucha Restorer once more.
Be sure it says IOS36 and press A , then 1 when the text changes.
Choose Restore IOS15.
Change the option to Download from NUS, press A and let the app finish.

Then just make sure that the ISO image that you have of NSMBW is NTSC, and makse sure it is patched, burn it to a DVD-R at the slowest speed, and it'll play fine trough the disc channel. You can also uninstall Homebrew Channel if you don't need it.

@ Blue-K:
Thanks for the straight to the point post, I find however that some of the solutions could be more clear.

QUOTE said:
ModChip Users:
-Try the newest NeoGamma R8Beta, which should be able to run the Game without any patches needed. THE ISO MUST BE UNPATCHED!
-Try GeckoOS, and this PAL or this NTSC Cheat File. Place it under /codes/, and activate Ocarina in GeckoOS.
-Or use NeoGamma R8Beta13 or above, cIOSrev14, place the included .wip-Patches in /NeoGamma, and enable "Search patches".

-Or download and Install IOS53 and your System IOS (3.2-3.4 = IOS30, 4.0/4.1= IOS60, 4.2=IOS70) and patch them with the Trucha Patch.

Except for the first Neogamma fix, there's nothing stated about whether the game needs to be patched.

Even with IOS53+IOS60 patched with the Trucha fix (System Menu 4.1U, Wiikey v.1), running the game from the Disc Channel without patching still results in the "An error has occurred..." crash. You might also consider adding something about removal of the update partition with wiiscrubber or brickblocker - the fewer changes people make to their systems at this point, the better.
