Nintendo doesn't do this to stop the average gbatemp poster, they do it to stop the average soccer mom.

they know that fighting piracy is an uphill battle, their goal is to make it hard enough so the average user buys games.

and let's be honest here, they do this to make money, if nobody bought games, nobody would make games.

you all should be glad when the bar is raised and the low hanging fruit get pushed back into going legit.

their purchases support your habit. in short, be glad that other people buy games.

Dunno but his main point would be other people buy games so devs make games for us to play. Without people buying no one would make games. Something like that I only skimmed his stuff.

R4ids website have been updated...

"In August 10 the other day purchased the cassette user, DSi please do not promote is the V1.4 editions, 1.4 edition firmwares can shield the third party fitting, creates cannot the service condition. Don't know what it really means...

1-The 10, they will produce new carts, so if you bought an old version, you need to stay in 1.3 forever... or buy another cart...

2-The 10, they will release the update??

But the "asks respectfully to forgive" makes me think it's gonna be solution 1.

If people pirate games and there is a new protection that stops those games from working there are a few things that will happen.
1, people will start buying games. Very unlikely.
2, people will give up with that platform and move to the next (PSP). Very likely
3, people will just play what they have. Likely.

I for one will give up and move to the next platform. They wont get my money no matter what platform they are on as most of the games arnt worth buying anyway. The ones that are I've already brought.

Back on topic, is this real or has it been proven fake?
I dont care if its fake or not as I got a EZ5i anyway and waiting for them to release their next firmware update.
Also, I'm still on 1.3E so they can take their time. No reason to update for me. N will just be missing out on my money not letting me into the shop.

IMO it sounds more like you have to buy a new cart. I mostly understand it anyways its not hard. It says don't upgrade to 1.4 or flashcarts don't work. He can't change the bootstrap/bootloader w.e of the r4i (this part I'm not so sure about) and starting august 10 hes making/selling new ones that get around it.

Something like this.

Only thing is I can't tell if he will make it normally upgradeable.

@Naked Faerie: I did 3 for a year or so.

Then I got a flashcart.

Next platform eh they might pull a security like the ps3 soon.

Waits for the Acekard team to provide us an update.

Well... I'm happy to own some 100% reflashable carts... (EZVi + M3iZero and also Hyper4i ^^).

I bet it will be the same for the acekard (and I guess, a new acekard will come)...

atm we dont really know if those "reflashable" carts will work.. IF they do.. ppl wont buy others carts...

Well, was looking forward to Mighty flip champs ( as they made it look on the Nintendo website that it was coming this week http://www.nintendo.co.uk/NOE/en_GB/games/...ware_11805.html ) but they released City Transport map volume 1 instead, so not missing much by not upgrading yet..... I think Nintendo hate EU as most of the really cool stuff on DSiWare has been released in other regions ( in English as well ) has still not been releasd in the EU

That's what you'd do, but of the people using flash cards hardly anyone knows much about it and surfs on gbatemp. When they see it doesn't work anymore it's pretty likely that they just buy the games again. Like I said, it's not hardcore gamers like us I'm talking about but the people that only know that the DS realizes it when you touch on the screen but have no idea why that's happening

I guess its better not to buy any cart for DSi until the next firmware upgrade(1.5) + its solution imo..
We'll just see which one survives.. lol

or another solution is that just don;t upgrade at all..
my point is that we can't buy a new cart every new DSi firmware upgrade =,= i would rather buy an original cart lol
However, there;s SCONE1 and M31 that keeps my hope alive.. we'll just see how they could come up with a
solution.. (I am assuming that other carts (i,e, EDGE, Ak2, EZflash, etc..) won't be upgradeable since r4i isn't.. I might be wrong though..)
