Just wondering if anyone knows, but what is the minimum download/upload speed required for Wii online (for Conduit in specific?). Like a good speed, okay, and lag speed. If anyone knows, please share this information.

Five hours of playing this game.

Every single facet of this game, sans the control scheme, is thoroughly unimpressive. The gameplay is your standard corridor shoot-em-up fare. There are some nice visual effects, wrapped around pretty mediocre art and level design. The enemies are generic, in more than one sense - you've got your typical tiered enemies, except there are only a few kinds, so you see them over and over and over and over and over. The sound design is bad - the guns don't sound like guns, the background music is either not there, it doesn't fit the situation at all, or it doesn't fit the situation well enough. The animations aren't good, some of the death animations made me cringe, and the guns lack any real 'punch'. The story is a bit convoluted, though at this point it's the only thing keeping me playing. The multiplayer isn't that great, either. Every match I've been in so far has held a solid 10-15 frames per second (woooooow), and the graphics take a pretty extreme hit - you'd think you were playing Far Cry: Vengeance if not for the character models. The multiplayer map design is decent (some, like Pentagon, flat out suck), and while the multiplayer modes are fun, the combat isn't complex AT ALL - skill is thrown out of the freaking window, and a lock on system where all you have to do is hold Z and mash at the center of the screen takes its place. The weapons aren't balanced (you don't give a SMAW eight rounds of ammunition and set it right near an ammo base, are you crazy!?), and sometimes your shots don't even register. And the controls? They're not that good. Before you dig into me with the 'oh you must hate Wii for FPS' or 'The Conduit is so customizable', I'm aware of this. I sat there for thirty minutes fiddling with the controls. While the limits (or lack thereof) of customization are impressive, in the end, the feel of the controls is, uh, rubbery. It's hard to explain. You can't get it to feel like MoH:H2 or CoD:WaW, you can't get it to feel as tight. Maybe you can. I don't know, maybe I didn't spend enough time with it. So far, though, I'm only semi-impressed, and when you're only semi-impressed with a game's selling point... you know you've got a problem on your hands.

I figured this game wouldn't live up to the hype, but I wanted to give it a chance. So far, though, not only has this game not lived up to the hype, it's just a mess. I'll still be playing it for the next week or so - I don't start a game without finishing it, after all. I hope I begin to like it more as time goes on. I'll be posting my FC shortly.

As long as its DSL speed you should be able to play online.
I'm running 300kps it's pretty slow for downloading but I have no problem playing online on the PlayStation Network with no lag.
Not to sure about the Wii, I'll have to try that out when I get the game.

Someone mentioned that you couldn't, and you shouldn't either. Something like that will mess you up.

My word, this game is astounding. I haven't been as impressed with a game as this for years. This is a technical masterpiece! Almost everything is bump mapped, motion blur, real time water reflection and the projection from the ASE all from a console without pixel shaders. I'd heard that the screenies didn't do it justice but really didn't think it'd be this good. There are times when you could be forgiven for mistaking this for a 360 game at first glance. Not bad for two Gamecubes duct-taped together.

And the frightening thing is that they've improved their Quantum 3 engine for Gladiator AD and The Grinder!!!

The controls and most importantly the ability to customise them and the HUD are excellent, I can see this sort of control customisation in real-time being a new standard in FPS games on all consoles. Such a simple idea it's a wonder that nobody has done it before!

Online play for me has so far been lag free over 3 games lasting 20 minutes so am quite impressed with that.

I can see myself playing the single player game a couple of times at different difficulty levels (especially since I've missed a load of hidden text and data discs lol) which for me is unusual.

Hmm..it seems as though you actually have to play the game for you to figure out if you like it. Because some people rate the game good, average, and bad.

There may not be lag ... yet. Once more people get Conduit...maybe.

Once you get a control customisation that you're happy with you'll enjoy it a great deal more. Once I'd taken the time to get the controls the way I wanted them this now controls better than both CoD and MoHH2.

I have to agree with Xtra large in some respect. It does feel a little as though its boardering between a cheap €10 bargin bin game and an average FPS. I have played many of FPS games and this comes far from top of my list. Now the Wii has not many FPS but it could of been much better.

On the + side the controls, video and customizations in real time is a masterpiece on it's own and I bet this will become the norm in multi console soon. But although having this great option no matter how you custom the controls it cannot give you the feel of depth like MOHH2 im not talking about the game. I mean you need rock solid control and movement in an FPS and this seems as if your gliding on ice in movement not walking and also the pointer/shooting controls always seem to wave around. You need accuracy and any time you do shoot or move the crosshair it always never goes and stay right where you want it, it kinda glides that exrta bit which pisses me off in game because again I say you need fooking rock solid controls.

The mere fact that he is trying to compare this game to Xbox 360 and PS3 games makes his entire review a biased piece of crap.

Why? Why shouldn't the Wii be compared to the other two systems? The only time I hear this is in cases where a certain element of a Wii game is inferior to something available on another console. But oh boy, you get into a conversation about controls and the comparisons start flying all over the place - right out of the mouths of Nintendo fans, no less. There's a double standard out there, and it's that only certain things the Wii does can be compared to the PS3 and 360, and only when the Wii does 'em well. Otherwise? Oh, its totally uncool to compare the Wii to the PS3/360.

I still believe that when a console is so behind that its fans claim it's unfair to compare it with the competition because of a guaranteed inferiority... well, that's a huge problem, perhaps something that can't really be justified.

Why? It's because FPS (if it's wii vs other consoles) are compared because of GRAPHICS. And about the controls? They didn't judge the conduit's control right. It's their inability to be able to adapt or adjust their own Wii controls. It's fully customizable for pete's sake(whoever the hell pete is). Now, Gamepro didn't even give the conduit a chance to prove its multiplayer section which is its STRENGTH. If you think about it, if you judged halo solely without multiplayer, without a doubt I would rate it around 7.0!

They can compare this game to other consoles. But they should NOT compare this game because of the lack of graphical power the wii has-that's not the conduit's devs fault, that's the Wii's.

There's a double standard because the wii is different. Different controllers, powers, weaknesses, and strength.

No it just means what everyone now know, and that the game is crap. The multilayer is worse than then actual game, and that's saying alot since bonds multilayer was better than the game.

I can't understand how anyone can find much fault with it tbh. Online play is great, visually it looks fantastic (although I do have a problem with some of the door textures but that's no great problem) and it controls like a dream. True, the story isn't great so far (am only 40% of the way through) but I really only play FPS games to kill things lol. You can either play it as a run and gun FPS (which I love) or you can also explore areas and find hidden weapons, text and items.

12 player online goodness with almost 20 weapons and 10 maps and a variety of online variations.

A game that uses Goldeneye, Perfect Dark and Halo amongst others as inspiration can't go far wrong imo. I love it

Sooo true. I couldn't imagine playing Halo 3 single player (again). Multiplayer (online or local) is where the fun and competition is at.

lol, so many mixed reviews..that's why I pay no attention to reviews. To each their own I say!

Especially with this only-Wii game.

i like it. im over 40% thru with a few hours play. was disappointed til i got to about 25% but its been getting better as i go along. seems like its short though. they better make another one.

my biggest complaint is that you cant fuck up objects, break lightbulbs, and stuff like that in the levels other than shit thats supposed to blow up. makes it seem too n64 because of that. but it could be worse.
