Hi there. I was wondering if there any good Zelda like games on the DS. I'm looking for some for my father, as it's our favourite video game franchise (my personal favourite being A Link to the Past). Anyway, if you have something in mind, please share. The general outline is real time combat, exploration, item gathering and the game being good

. Thanks in advance.

Dragon Quest Heroes Rocket Slime.

Plays like L2TP and Minish Cap. Has a recurring and engaging side game (tank battle) that I love. Quite possibly my all time favourite game on the DS, top 5 at least.

Freshly Picked, Tingles Rosy Rupeeland.

Well its a spin off so its got Zelda references all over. Quirky gameplay that can take some getting used to. Its often dismissed as a game for queers by ignorant young males but given a fair go the humor is good, the gameplay is fun and you can still laugh at Tingle's misfortunes despite playing as him this time (its an origin story).

Also worth a look: Mario & Luigi - Partners in Time, Summon Night -Twin Age, and just because it doesn't get mentioned often enough Lock's Quest. Its not at all like Zelda but its worth a look despite its flaws. An excellent start to what could become a genre leader.

Thanks a lot guys. I'll check these and post my opinion back. I think this would be a good thread for a reference because a lot of people look for these types of games and the forum members' opinions are worth a look.

Dragon Quest games play quite a bit like the older zelda games...

and Fire Emblem DS is good (although not like zelda)

But yea i agree with the first reply, Final fantasy crystal chronicles (both ring of fates & echoes of time) and the most brilliant games that have ever been created for the DS and have amazing multiplayer capacity!

I second Dragon Quest Heroes Rocket Slime, that game was amazing. I picked it up on a pure whim, and it turned out to be one of my favorite DS games of all time. No matter how many times that tank battle happens, its always fun as crap.

Yeah Rocket slime was a great game. I got it cause it looked interesting and it turned out to be a lot of fun. Also I think there is going to be a new zelda game coming out eventually. not sure when but eventually. I saw a video trailer in japanese. In this one he is going to have a train.

Not to sound rude, but Dragon Quest games play _nothing_ like the older Zelda games. The only one I can think of that is similar is Rocket Slime, which was great fun.

I'll second Lunar Knights as well. Great game, like a more action-oriented Boktai without the sun sensor stuff. Other than the ones mentioned (Soma Bringer, FF:CC, Avalon Code), there's not much that's Zelda-ish. And even those are a bit of a stretch, in my opinion.
