that's a nice start...
something more USBish? :-P
A USB....a WII.... :-P

Nope. Too literal. Too teeny tiny for screen purposes. I made the icon for myself and shared it for the people who like it.
If you don't want it: open up Photoshop and create one! Be creative! Have fun!
I am happy with this one so i wont be making more (because different people will ask for different icons and it will never be 'the perfect one' hehe).

Have a great day!
God I LOVE Waninkoko for making the loader. Fan-tas-tic!

What does not work (so far):
- Deadly Creatures (eternal black screen, nothing else)
- Metroid (like reported: asks for disc in drive)
I mentioned this in another thread, but with Metroid Prime 3 put any old game into the drive. It doesn't seem to matter. It should work then.

I did a search, and I'm pretty sure this hasn't been asked/covered. Does the drive speed (5400 vs 7200) of an external drive matter? Or is 5400 fast enough already? I ask because I have an extra 160gig laptop drive that I could put in an enclosure to use for this if that would work.

I guess I'll ask another question while I'm being a noob... ;-)

I haven't loaded anything since the .3 beta loader, and I've always had a little trouble wrapping my head around the cIOS thing. Is there a way I should check my system to see what I have installed, or not, in terms of cIOS, before i move forward on this? I'm pretty sure I was on 3.2, and did a "safe upgrade" a while back, but I don't remember the details. I'd be interested in finding the "baseline" of where my system stands so I can better understand all of this.

I just read the last 30 pages and I just want to make sure of one thing before I load this. Does this works with System menu 3.2 with preloader installed? Thanks
Yup, works perfectly fine.

Im running it on a 5400rpm 160gb laptop drive.

Wont make a difference as its limited by usb2.0

Two more games that don't work for me (they install, but have issues when you try to play them):

NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams -- freezes at loading screen showing the children flying (after the cut scene at beginning of game).
LEGO Star Wars -- freezes with a black screen at startup.

Both are ripped from 1:1 DVD-R backups.

But it's not ALL doom 'n' gloom! Here's a list of games that work just fine! (again, all are ripped from 1:1 DVD-R backups):

Boom Blox
Bully: Scholarship Edition
Call Of Duty: World At War
Endless Ocean
Excite Truck
New Play Control: Pikmin

Not sure if it's been mentioned before, but for some reason the Animal Crossing clock won't sync with the wii clock. Whenever I start the game through the usb loader the time is put back to what I set it. The first time I started, it was 11:59pm 1999!

Tried we love golf ntsc on it, works fine on pal wii. Small problem though, usb loader seems to output the game in ntsc, so red screen with rgb, so have to turn it off and put up with crap picture. Game outputs in pal through disc channel, just usb loader that it outputs in ntsc.

I have a question about formating within the USB Loader: If I have an HDD with two partitions (one NTFS, one FAT32), will the USB Loader ask which partition to format to WBFS?

I installed a game on partition 2 and I'd like to have only one partition instead of two.

Now THIS is interesting:

I installed De Blob to my HDD, and when I tried to play it, it would say "Loading...." on the screen and freeze up.

I tried it again with a disc in the Wii and it played perfectly! (It was a just a backup of a different game, so any disc will do).

I suppose (for now) that some games need to have a disc in the Wii to play properly.

I'm going to retry LEGO Star Wars, NiGHTS, and Sam & Max to see if this trick works with those games.

Is there any chance that in the future you could put an ISO from your computer on a USB drive and play it directly on the Wii?

That's the Link to your Dreams. Works good for me on Windows.

Metroid Prime 3 is the same way.

Wow, I so want to use it but I have a 250 GB drive full to the brim with stuff formatted with a FAT filesystem. It's gonna take ages to backup all this stuff, and then I won't be able to use it with the computer

.
Any word when we get support for NTFS? If it's possible of course.
