Gaming Broken Sword: Shadows of the Templars help

im at the part close to the very beginning, after you disarm the 2 locks for that rusty door. I cant seem to figure out what to do in the 2nd room, i get that you need to make the yellow tube thing flat but i cant seem to get the door open thats kinda jammed.

Please can you help me how to open the two locks, I hate these kind of riddles and i can't figure it out how to push the blocks....

use the metal case to hold the cross in place then place the stone cylinder in the slot. After that remove the metal case then use it on the door that youre supposed to open
