Use? Games/Homebrew
Price Range?? I'd like to save money if possible but I'm ok with the 50 or so that realhotstuff wants for the Cyclo
smile.gif

Slot 1/2? Both.
Built in or expandable memory? Expandable
GBA compatibility? Yes.
Special features? SDHC compatibility, automatic DLDI, WIFI/Download play compatible. RTS nice but not required.
Any flashcarts you are looking at in particular CycloDS -???
Mostly I want something with a good build quality that runs games without trouble. RTS would be nice, but I'm trying to decide if the price premium for the CycloDS is worth it when I probably wont use the RTS or cheats all that often. The CycloDS had a pretty clear reputation as being the best but people use to recommend the R4 if RTS wasn't required. Now that R4 doesnt make/support cards, all thats out there are clones has something taken its place as a good alternative option to the CycloDS?

I know the EZflash 3-1 has a new model coming out, so I'm not sure if it'd be a good idea to hold of on that part of the purchase or not for the moment, or if it even makes that big of a deal. (Obviously it'd make backing up retail carts/saves much faster, but I can't see anyplace that tells you they're selling them.)

Use?
To play DS games
Price Range?
Max spending $50 (australian dollars)
Slot 1/2?
eh... 1?
Built in or expandable memory?
expandable memory. i already have a extra kingston 2gb miniSD which is just sitting there
Special features?
not particularly
Any flashcarts you are looking at in particular
Acekard. the ozmodchip website is selling it for approx. $50 with free shipping so it is in my price range
Other?
The R4 pro which the website is also selling for approx the same price.

For all slot-1's (ignore if you want a slot-2):
Support slot-2 GBA?
yes
Support slot-2 rumble packs?
yes? i actually don't really know what this is...
Support slot-2 RAM (web browser)?
not necessary, but it would be nice.

my main delimma: the website (which i am determined to buy from as it seems crediable and also it was posted on this website) has reviews for both the acekard and R4 pro (as expected). however, most of the recent reviews (that were posted in the last 6 months) stated how they faced the "FAT error" with the acekard after few weeks/months of useage. On the other hand, the R4 pro has recieved many (and by many i mean nearly all) great reviews from buyers who stated how the R4 pro is great to use etc.

I am leaning towards the acekard than the R4 pro as i've heard and read many topics about how crappy the R4 is, but the reviews are really holding me back. I (like everyone of you) do not want to spend money on something that will not last me long.

@momies: I live in Melbourne, Australia and I can tell you now, the extra money you save from buying from dealextreme.com will be well worth it. The shipping is from Hong Kong, which is approximately 5 working days from where I am. I'm not saying OzModChips is a bad shop/site at all, it's just their prices are a bit too steep for my liking...

I've stuck with dealextreme for the whole time, and all my orders have come in in around a week. Dealextreme is out of Acekards at the moment so you might want to buy an Edge which is around $23 AUD. Or you could go on Focalprice and get an Acekard 2 for around $17. I'm ordering from focal price for the first time and my order has been shipped in 2 days from order date. So I'm not putting my money on their service yet, but you might want to try yourself.

Sorry if this has already been answered elsewhere, but the Google search function isn't all that useful.

If I buy a flash card like the CycloDS Evolution, will I have problems playing Guitar Hero World Tour with the guitar grip?

No, the cyclo will be about the same size as a normal cartidge, so it does not present any problems

So compatibility wise, the CycloDS will have no problems playing the game and recognizing the grip?

O! Sorry, I misinterpreted your question, no it should not present any issues I wouldn't think, as long as the game is compatible with the CycloDS, which I have no doubt it is, then the grip should be recognized in the same way it would on the original game.

Use? - DS games
Price Range? - up to $30
Slot 1/2? - not sure whats the difference...but mainly whatever works
Built in or expandable memory? - not sure whats the difference...but mainly whatever works
Special features? - want media player
Any flashcarts you are looking at in particular - K6 SuperCard Multimedia Flash and EZflash V and Supercard DS One and Edge (but dont like the fact that the cart is not flush).
Other? - want the menu and stuff to navigate with ease...its for my 8yr old nephew.

For all slot-1's (ignore if you want a slot-2):
Support slot-2 GBA? -
Support slot-2 rumble packs? - dont really need.
Support slot-2 RAM (web browser)? - dont really need.

For slot-2's (ignore if you want a slot-1): expansion pack or its own memory?

So my needs are for a card that does not stick out when plugged into the DS...needs media player....supports at least up to 4gigs...easily navigate.

You know, I didn't even think of this but...do any cart nowadays have a spring-loaded section for the microSD? It's not horribly important but since I love my current one with my now-defunct M3 Simply; I figured I should ask.

Buy an Acekard 2 with a 4 GB Sandisk MicroSD (Correct me if i'm wrong)

I have a question i'm gona buy a new FlashCard But i don't know wich one Acekad 2 Or CycloDs (money doesn't matter) i fliped some coins but no answer i'd get Cyclo but i just hate those skins, And Acekard what does it have that Cyclo doesn't? it can support 8 Gb Sandisk right? both can play videos, MP3 and images right? both have 100% working Ds games right? What does Cyclo have to be 40€-30€ more than Acekard 2? besides Slow motion?

And is EzFlash 3-in-1 usefull? i'm not going to play with rumble, maybe 2 GBA games, and Opera... Humm i'm at my house with a CPU connected always to internet?

Use? Commercial Games, Homebrews, MP3s, Videos (DivX? WMV?), Web Browser
Price Range? Less than $100
Slot 1/2? No idea. Seems like the majority say 1?
Built in or expandable memory? Expandable SDHC
Special features? Yes. Lots.
Any flashcarts you are looking at in particular Cyclo Evolution, EZ-Flash V Plus, or other?
Other? I'd like to have the ultimate system capable of all the above, if possible. With lots of support and compatibility for 3rd party homebrews, etc.

For all slot-1's (ignore if you want a slot-2):
Support slot-2 GBA? Yes. Use EZ-Flash 3-in-1?
Support slot-2 rumble packs? Yes. Use EZ-Flash 3-in-1?
Support slot-2 RAM (web browser)? Yes. Use EZ-Flash 3-in-1?

Thanks for any help and recommendations.

Good point, he always has the option of not buying from Dealextreme.com though, I'm sure other sites will have some of the old models. Also, I've spoken to some people at dealextreme and they've got no idea in regards to these 'new' EzFlash 3 in 1's. I've been wanting to get myself a black one, but I have yet to have someone confirm that they have a 'new' black one.

1.) EZflash 3-in-1 is very, very useful; especially if you wanna play GBA games, use NDS webbrowser, and rumble is practically not used by anyone(just a cheap feature added on there)
2.) between Acekard2 and Cyclo? -> I would go with Acekard2, because:
-Acekard2 has beautiful, sexy, delicious GUI.
-verrrrrrry cheap price, if you know where to shop. "dealextreme.com" (even though you don't care $$ price"
-wonderful features and barley any cons; not that great cartridge build (they fixed that kindaaaa with their 2nd version of cartridges)
-Yes, Acekard does support all those things.
-Cylco has pretty good build, which AceKard2 lacks, but that doesn't really matter.
Ya.. I think that's all the differences I could think of.
