don't agree with that, everything he's said is pretty true, it is groups..
also that was marcan posting on their site, and i just informed gbatemp users, who don't check..
There will be others that try to deal with piracy exploits etc, just not team twiizers

OK so just to calify just go in and delete all the wads i installed and if i update i am as good as normal?
and also delete Twilight Princess save file cause thats the Twilight hack correct?

if you have the wads still, uninstall with manager uninstaller, but yeah delete everything, your custom channels, the HBC, TP hack file... "normal" as good as you'll get

I'm sure you understand that all ittybitty data wont be removed as it stays there as team twiizers explained!

But other than that your safe and rearing to go your normal Nintendo route haha

like allready said i aint gunna panic i'll just carry on as normal..the 1 thing that really does concern me is Marcan being some self professed wii god..just becuase he says something doesnt mean its wii law and we will all follow..at one time this may have been true but unfortunately marcan unlocked the door for homebrew and now other coders have started to develope he seems to want to close everything so he can again become the wii god that everyone listens to..now there is no doubt that marcan is a very talented individual when it comes to wii developement but in quite afew posts in other thread all he has done is attack individuals with claims of i'm better than you ner ner ner ner..that may be the case but to be honest who cares. if you do something new that everyone likes you will get the credit for it eg when bootmii comes out no doubt everyone will hail marcan as the king again and thats fine. individuals should be judged on their own merits. marcan deserves praise for what he has done just in the same way waninkoko deserves credit as does everyone who has done anything on the wii..
as the latest developement is the backup loader waninkoko and wiigator have become the new kings of the wii. that is untill marcan or any other coder makes something newer and better then the tide will turn again..but comming on here and posting a statement saying that everything you have done is worthwhile and everything waninkoko/wiigator has done isnt is just plain stupid. as has allready been said your preaching to the wrong crowd..
just the heading on this thread "3.4 and recent updates, November 19th, 2008 by marcan" made me want to vomit..who cares who made the statement. if you want people to listen then make something worthwhile that users will value above a backup loader but please dont come on here preaching that homebrew is wonderful as long you have control over it and when someone makes some homebrew that you or nintendo doesnt like put out a statement saying its wrong..oh by the way i invented a car but please dont drive it..i also invented a new food but please dont eat it..i mean come on get real ive allready had this argument before about just beacuse you say something doesnt make it right in the past..
you seem to think that backup loading is bad even though emulators are good..becuase backup loaders cost nintendo money..well i'm sorry to burst your bubble but a nes rom is JUST as illegal to own as a mario kart iso..just becuase you think its not doesnt make it right..in the eyes of the law they are illegal as each other. anyway i could go on and on and on but i wont..
just remember you are only as good as the software you make and just becuase you say something is right or wrong doesnt make it right or wrong..

If Marcan was god then BootMii would have been released already. Evidently he is not god. In fact, he is nothing more than a coder that is struggling for attention. If he is all about anti-piracy, etc. then he would play his Wii just like it was from the factory and use his PC exclusively for his coding. I don't think Mr. Nintendo gave him any more permission than he did with the pirates. One word to wrap up, Marcan.
Hypocrite. He mentioned there were 2 groups, the pirates and the clueless. Which one did he decide to fall into? I have no respect for his social skills, he tends to be the Wii Scene Drama Queen. I do have respect for his skills as a coder, but those double lives he leads will result in him only remaining the lonely, sad person he is... Sometimes the truth hurts. I only tell it like I see it.

Marcan, I know you don't know me... but you need to lighten up with your anti-piracy bullshit, because you will never win anyone's respect that way. Each individual has his own rights, choice, volition. Not you. So stop judging everyone else's behavior and judge your own. Because really no one really cares what you think about the others. Truth be known, they just want to see your gift. I may be the only one to admit that. Stop focusing on the small stuff and look at the big picture and you will rise further and the applause you are looking for will happen automatically.

By the way... I am in that group that starts with a P. (Noticed it capitalized?) I am 36 years old and have been one since I was 14. I reside on the unsinkable.

marcan said that everyone who panics about the update either is a pirate, clueless or both which actually is true. If you know what this updates does you don't panic about it and are therefore not clueless. If you do know what the update does and still panic about it you are afraid to loose your beloved WADs and thus are a (maybe clueless) pirate:-P

The real point is that we don't want our code to be abused to help piracy which sadly always has to happen due to us wanting to give you full access to your wii. E.g. we don't want someone to take bootmii and create a new warezloader with that.
If you badly want your warezloader go code it yourself without taking code (e.g. DVDX) we wrote. The people from this softchip team seem to be pretty talented coders doing this. I certainly don't agree with their goals but there is nothing I can do against them. I just hate it when some people like, say, wanky, take our code, modify it a little bit and release it as the new piracy tool then. And if our current idea really works out - which might not be the case - pirates are going to have a fun fun time abusing our stuff (like USB 2.0 (this was just an example. we don't have usb 2 (yet?))) for piracy.

oh, and a new savegame exploit will come sooner or later. we'll probably release one together with bootmii which may or may not do what we already told you in previous posts :-)

i was wondering if there are any games untill now that doesn't work without updating... i mean, you can dissable update with starfall or brick blocker... or you can run gecko os, but can they run without updating. of course they can, but are there games known that doesn't work without updating?

to my knowledge, the game would only need the new wad from the update. the updated system menu should have nothing to do with it.

which can be extracted from the games if you have the iso's on your hdd, so you first need to rip games to your hdd if you buy them to rip out the wad and install that wad so you can play them?

Frankly... Marcan is a grown-up, he doesn't need anyone to defend it, and svpe already put the Twiizers' opinion here, but...

One, he is not an hypocrite, because he codes for Wii but doesn't use any illegal code, as "pirates" do.

Two, I'm pretty sure he doesn't care about the respect that comes from certain people. I don't like some of the "attitude" he uses sometimes, like the Twiizers were the "owners" and "gods" of the Wii scene, but I understand why they want to keep their secrets, and I must respect it.

Finally: you say that he doesn't know what is the "big picture"... Do you? Let me explain it: Nintendo is not going after piracy, is going after homebrew. They are defending homebrew, and it's their right. Not everyone wants piracy from homebrew... And the problem is, if the Twiizers keep homebrew working, they will indirectly benefit piracy, but if the Twiizers lose and Nintendo kill homebrew completely, piracy will continue with modchips. So, the ones who didn't went into piracy with BL will be the ones that really will lose.

I won't be an hypocrite. I am a pirate, I use the BL. But, even if I take benefit from the Twiizers' work, I don't blame, judge or demand them for what they do or think. It's their right, we wouldn't be here discussing "compatibility lists" if it weren't for them.

So, as you say here, STFU.

Nah. You can use the Wii to extract the updates from discs with a homebrew application. Then install the new things in the update with WAD manager.

i didn't know there was a app for that... can you give me a name/link? i never looked into the whole update/game things since i was too busy with wad injection...

well i'm sorry but 90% of homebrew is by its very nature piracy lol.

1. emulators..errr piracy
2. backup loader...errrr piracy
3. homebrew apps that alter nintendo code...err piracy

now let me see what homebrew does that leave..errr not a lot..the odd 1 or 2 games like tetris oh no hang on tetris is copyrighted so piracy..that leaves small games like operation..oh hang on operation is copyrighted by mb games so err piracy again..i think you get the picture..
everyone seems to be confusing things..virtualy everything conected to the homebrew channel is piracy wether marcan likes it or not..just becuase wii iso's are current doesnt make them any more illegal to own/download than a copy of final fantasy 1 nes rom at 1mb..in the eyes of the law they are illegal as each other..if you shoot someone in the head and they die its murder. if you hit someone over the head with a pink dildo 2000 times and they die its murder..it doesnt matter that death by pink dildo is rather amusing they are both murder..

if you dont want piracy then stop doing anything at all with the future of homebrew channel as its main if not only purpose is for piracy/copyright theft on some level or another
