Nintendo DS games statically recompiled and re-optimized for 3DS.
16:9 Widescreen support
Repositioned UI to account for things
3D Slider in games on the top screen.

Love my nds-bootstrap extras, but ideally this could be done with recomps and really maximize the value of a 3DS.

I think what maximizes the value the most is playing games I could not play any other way before on my 3DS like Smash Melee or Persona 3 Portable. Not games I already can play on it for more than a decade at this point.

See, to me those are uninteresting because the form factor doesn't benefit from them at all, and the controls are worse than either a Gamecube controller or any other PS or Xbox grip, just on a laptop or computer. Like, what's the point?

It's really cool seeing those "omg a 3DS can do this?" but then you actually have to play the game, and wonder "why the fuck am I not just turning on my Switch" or whatever.

A lot of DS games look nice in higher res, like playing PS1 games on Duckstation. 3DS has the form factor to play those, and you could do things like upscale the UI properly or maybe overscale and downsample it to look better than the basic bilinear filter they use officially. The pixel filtering is the biggest issue when playing DS games on 3DS, and 16:10 modes are anamorphic. Recomps could definitely alleviate this.
