Small, nitpicky correction here based on the GitHub README:

The original game is hard-locked to 60 fps. The runtime can generate interpolated frames in between, so on a120/144 Hz monitor things genuinely look smoother.

So it's not necessarily a "higher framerate" as much as the appearance of one. Plus, you'll get the standard bundle of artifacts that come with interpolation. It's still a great feature though!

I'm always a big fan of this. It's extra work obviously, but it's the better option.

After giving the repo a bit of a read, the system requirements are a bit disappointing. In particular, not having native Linux support (yet!) is a bummer. The project is built with Aurora. That uses SDL and Vulkan to achieve cross-platform compatibility, so that opportunity being broken in the downstream is unfortunate. Nothing's stopping it from being implemented down the line though, and Proton might always be able to do its thing. I'd be curious to know if anyone's tested that yet.

Meanwhile, the hardware requirements are... odd? In particular, the need for a 1650 or newer on the NVIDIA side of things is a little surprising to me. They point to driver support as the root of that constraint, but I'm curious which of their dependencies rely on features covered by the 1650 and not, say, the 10 series.

Overall though, what an awesome project. I'm interested in seeing how widely it's adopted, especially given that the alternative option of using Dolphin is relatively mature. Regardless though, more options for preserving older games like this are rarely a bad thing.

Yes, AI was used for some code / assistance, but that doesn't mean its entirely vibecoded. Other parts of the code were made by developers.

Vibecoded would mean almost 100% of the code is AI written. I heavily doubt that is the case.

I wouldn't play it though. tons of people are getting viruses from it and virus detects from antivirus software and it's trying to access your chrome files for some reason. and also there's a RCE exploit already found inside of it, I wouldn't use it until it's at 1.0

Now it only needs Wiimmfi support and a Series s/X port so i can finally ditch my Wii U when playing MK Wii online.
(yes i know i can use Dolphin UWP and Wiimmfi, but i would prefer a native recomp).

Not everyone's going to have the time to decompile every single game the community wants. Hell windwaker has been decompiling for the past 2 years. If AI code allows us to have PC ports that work fine in a PC environment that does have any problem or glitches why does it matter?

I wish one person would take the time to explain (with evidence) whether it is actually "vibe coded" or the dev just asked an LLM a few questions throughout the project because frankly, I've seen what LLMs are capable of and I'd be SHOCKED if one could do a complete static recompilation of a Wii game with no human heavily involved.

Where are you getting this from? I'm not seeing anything about this from the YouTube comments or the GitHub issues. When you say "tons of people" I'd think I'd be able to find something about it, but so far I haven't.
