Howdy folks!

I mentioned on the big check-in thread that I wanted to have a place for people to be able to request review and editorial content, so here it is! If there's an upcoming game or piece of tech you'd like to see the site cover, drop it in a reply and we'll see what's possible. For context, a lot of our reviews rely on a publisher or company sending across a code or sample, so not all requests will be possible; even within possible things, we only have so many hours between us. That said, I'd rather know what people want than not, and if it puts us onto something good that we wouldn't have been aware of otherwise, all the better!

Similarly if you see something we've actually covered recently and think there could be an interesting editorial deep diving into a certain part of it, or just have general ideas on that front, pop them below too. I really enjoy writing editorials personally, and knowing what people want to read is a big help.

This thread will stay sticked in the User Submitted News forum (for the lack of a better place lol), so pop in whenever.

I mean we’ll still be reviewing and writing stuff either way. If there’s something you want to see though you now have a place to say it.

Oh!!!! I see. Thanks! I don't have any hung on the top of my mind right now but when I do, I'll come down and review something.

Can it be either silly or only something serious? And does it have to exclusively be games or anything else?

Now I’m confused lol. This is for users to request that staff cover certain things that we otherwise may overlook, or just have not known about in the first place.

If you want to write reviews yourself, I very much encourage it though! If you go to the reviews section there is a place to post your own (though the visibility isn’t great at the moment, so definitely also post finished reviews on your profile for people to see them). For user reviews there’s no real criteria. You can adopt whatever style you want, and take it as seriously as you want. If you wanted to post reviews with the prospect of maybe writing official reviews though, something of a more formal style might be more appropriate.

If you have any questions let me know.

Ohh... Okay. I think that's all the questions that I have for now. Thanks!

I have another question @Scarlet , is there a way to see all past user reviews besides searching forums? I went to this link in gbat: https://gbatemp.net/reviews/#user and it only shows (at the bottom of the screen), the last 6 user reviews.
I wanted to get a gist of how others are writing stuff :)
I don't believe there is... The best I can offer you is to look at reviews in the Retro category:
https://gbatemp.net/reviews/retro.13/

Historically official reviews have only covered the recent releases, so the Retro category is pretty much all user reviews. This might change soon, but for now that is pretty much all user ones.

Not sure if the editorial team would want to pick this up given the nature of the tooling, but I figured this could be an interesting article (if not several).

In short, I have 5 functioning static recompilers that are all capable of running at least one commercial title (NES, SNES, Genesis, VirtualBoy, and PSX).

System:
* nesrecomp
* snesrecomp
* segagenesisrecomp
* virtualboyrecomp
* psxrecomp (includes runnable bios build)

In total, my current list of games are:
NES:
* Super Mario Bros
* Duck Hunt
* Dr. Mario
* The Legend of Zelda
* Metroid
* Faxanadu
* Yoshi
* Yoshi's Cookie
* Mega Man 3 (WIP, playable)
* Gumshoe

SNES:
* Super Mario World
* Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (playable; mostly untested)

VirtualBoy:
* Mario Tennis

Sega Genesis Recomp
* Sonic the Hedgehog
* Sonic the Hedgehog 2

Happy to answer any questions on any of this. Each game repo should have a playable exe that is just download-and-play. Just need to supply the original ROM.
