The original wifi modul is also a J20H100 and the replacements are J20H100 from a PS5?
Yes the wifi modules are all J20H100's

Took some new thermal images. Providing 12v @1a. I am drawing 51ma. During this stage the Wifi IC heats up along with the (Dialog) power regulator and One Flash memory chip for Nand. After this sequence the amps drop to 21ma and components cool down. See pics.. Anyone have any ideas?

Anyone have any other ideas? I did notice that on my known good working EDM-020 Disc edition board. It has an AW-XM501 wifi module not the original J20H100 module. I heard they are both compatible. But maybe that is my issue?

Update: Flir thermal cam was misleading me a bit by making me think there was a cap or nearby inductor heating up first. Not liking how the Flir shifts the thermal layout. Went old school on this ps5 last night and broke out a can of freeze spray. First component to get hot was the NXP chip followed by inductor and nearby cap. Looks like I will need another wifi module. Trying to source the AW-XM501 this time

Does anyone know what this chip is? Possibly have a datasheet?

https://www.richtek.com/m/Products/...Phase Step-Down Controller/RT8237F?sc_lang=en This is the first component right directly behind the F7002 circuit inductor on same side of board. There is a short on that inductor both pads. Even with no inductor there the pads are still short. If i remove the wifi chip short goes away. Something is feeding them pads.

should be this I bet
Not sure I hate it when they dont always use the same chip. Like they are trying to hide something. Or just make it harder for us independent techs to find and fix. Haha

I guess this is the area you said.
I just got this EDM020 came in these 2days having short on 1.8v as well, F7002 blow too. Let me guess it would be a cap short or what else :rofl2:

Yes sir that is what i have been pulling my hair out about. Maybe we can bounce readings back and forth and cross examine to tag team this issue. :) haha

Jkyoho,
Did you get any further with your board?

Hi !

Got the same issue on a EDM20 ps5, 1.8v short on F7002, fuse was blowed and a cap was shorted dead on F7003. I replace it change the fuse and the wifi chip, the A2 chip etc... but the same.
Do you find how to resolve it ?

Tx

Greg

Salut.

Hello, I have the same problem, a short in the 1.8v capacitors, replace the wifi module, the ps5 still kept turning on and off, I continued analyzing the board, forcing it to turn on to see where it was overheating but I couldn't find it, right after that. The module has shorted out again, heating up and shorting the 1.8v line, can you solve it?

Pretty sure my output voltage is fluctuating intermittently at f7002. I caught it outputting 5v at the 1.8v line. Pretty sure this is what is frying my wifi modules. Does anyone have good surrounding resistor readings?
