I’m experiencing an issue with my PS5 (EDM-031). It only emits a beep, and no LEDs light up. Connecting via UART shows several error codes: two unknown (80896001 and 80894001) and two known (80892003 and 80891001).
When I connect the motherboard to my bench power supply, the current starts at 0.150 A and drops to 0.05 A after about 10 seconds. At 0.150 A, two components heat slightly: the SSD and the southbridge (~35–40 °C).
Regarding the DA9081, all voltages are present and there’s no short circuit. However, I found a short on a coil: in diode mode, it’s almost at ground. Comparing it to another coil with a nearly identical layout, the values are completely different (see photos).
After desoldering the coil, the short appears on the opposite side. Injecting 1 V (limited to 0.7 A) does not produce any hotspot on the thermal camera.
Do you have any idea where this line might be connected? I’m out of ideas.
