To run GameCube games from an SD card, I currently use a combination of WiiFlow Lite WFL v5.6.0 and Nintendont v6.503, and I have a few questions about this that I hope someone can answer, since I can’t find any decent documentation anywhere:

  1. Where exactly do I put the cheat files? I created a .gct file for a GameCube game and saved it both in sd:\codes and in sd:\wiiflow\codes\gct, but WFL says it can’t find a cheat file. The file is named according to the ‘GameID.gct’ naming convention.
  2. Is there a setting in WFL that logs the titles and playtimes of the GameCube games being played in the Wii’s message board?
  3. When I press the button on my controller that’s assigned to the Power button, the game I’m playing ends and I’m taken back to the Wii’s system menu—is there a setting somewhere that lets me configure it so that the game resets or restarts instead? Or, alternatively, so that the Wii’s Home menu opens?

I appreciate any helpful response!

UPDATE 1:
I figured out the answer to point 1 on my own by trial and error. Save the cheats as a .txt file in the sd:\wiiflow\codes directory, and then you can toggle the cheats on or off in the games settings in WiiFlow, confirm, and turn on Ocarina.

UPDATE 2:
Point 3 was also answered, thanks to Exidous!

Nintendont's soft reset button combo is the only solution I'm aware of for getting Nintendont to reset a game. R+Z+Start. I believe it can be reassigned in the Nintendont inis.

AFAIK, the power button is equivalent to the soft reboot button combo: R+Z+B+DpadDown. The power button is also assigned on various controller inis. Presumably you could edit yours to make the (controller) power button do something else.

See https://wiki.hacks.guide/wiki/Wii:Nintendont

What happens when your Wii starts (after Nintendont reboots the Wii) is a question for Priiloader. Mine is configured to always launch Wiiflow.

Oh, okay, then I guess I misunderstood the instructions on the page I looked at, because I was under the impression that pressing R+Z+Start restarts the console (just like the power button does) and not the game. Thanks for clearing that up!

The button combos have been altered over the life of Nintendont. But there are both a soft (game) reset function and a soft (console) reboot function.
