It's not a big deal, and it was fake ass misleading and 100% inaccurate information. As has already been stated by another user, it looks like it's to prevent people keeping games after getting a refund. Licenses are turning into full licenses and the 30 day timers are being removed after the 14 day refund period. I don't owe an apology for shit. You two are the ones that owe ME an apology. Gaslighting pricks.

And what happened to the block? I came to the site when I wasn't logged in and saw your stupidity. Couldn't help but come back and prove you wrong, again. Now sit the hell down and stfu. You've already been proven wrong a number of times.

The saddest thing about it is that no one will do anything about it. Most people won't care about the DRM and everyone will soon move on, while telling themselves that this "isn't a big deal".

And then the PS5 server shutdown happens and everyone will lose the games that they legally purchased after 30 days, with no (legal) way to get them back.

Oh, stop with this nonsense. Even Valve has DRM on Steam. Xbox has DRM. Nintendo has DRM. Suddenly... OMG EVIL SONY! LOL! PS3 servers are still up. I can still download all of my digitally purchased PS3 games on my PS3 from 20 years ago. Also all of my digital purchases on 3DS, Wii, Wii U, PS4, Steam, etc. etc. You're just trying to come up with some dumb excuses as to why it's so horrible to prevent people from stealing games. People aren't losing their games after 30 days. You're making shit up.

And now... oh look. It's coming out of the woodwork now too that a lot of people bitching about this were also game sharing and didn't activate their console properly after changing. Regardless, acting like DRM is a new thing to Sony, MS, Valve, etc is just flat out stupid and ignorant. But go on, keep crying about how this is going to effect you and your digital purchases. Fear mongering with the entire "But but!!!! Sony server shut down!!!!" LOL!
 
There are actually valid things to be mad about that Sony does...

I get you might've been confused about exactly what was going on. But not wanting to be corrected is a bad personality trait to have. Should consider reflecting on why you put your heels in the sand instead of reflect on if your initial conclusion was actually correct or not.

Now let's all remember Sony not only has, but has used, the ability to full on remove titles from your console you have bought and downloaded (if connected to the internet). Sony keeps trying to make live service games and doing so so poorly it's hurting developers. Etc. Etc.

If you want to be mad at things, fine, I waste my time like that from time to time. But try to make it a little less wasteful, and be mad at things that are real, and actually bad please.
 
I'm glad its only for the games you bought around april and not older purchases.

Anyways people did digging and Sony did indeed try to sneak in the 30 day check ins for all future licences you can get that will lock you out of your games if you don't connect to the internet, making it so you don't truely own your games. you can stop trying to flail about being right now.

Glad it wasn't real this time. I want to say that people being mad at this does show just how believable something like this has become, and people should be concerned by that fact. Something like this would not have gotten this much attention years ago because it would have been seen as too extreme. However, we've watched companies pushing more and more into horrible practices like live services, always-online DRM/normal ass DRM, and Microslop's push away from owning games and toward streaming them. The fact of the matter is, we are living in a world where something this stupid is possible and people should be upset that.

Don't forget MS wanted the Xbone to have a 24 hour DRM check and disc based games were tied to the user account.

Personally, I think Sony needs to re-think how they communicate changes like this because it just created uneccesary drama, even just something in the patch notes could have stopped this and this issue may haunt them for some time due to the various news articles/videos surrounding it.

Frankly, I wont be surprised to see people saying 'it was just a test to see if they could get away with it' or 'they will do it in the near future', similar to comments I've seen about Android sideloading.

It took them this long to address it, after the firestorm, even though it very much proves that they can do this at all (assuming this claim ins't just them backtracking on what they intended to do, because the refund period gets nulled when you download the game onto your ps4/5) and also doesn't address the above post i brought to this thread's attention showing that no, the 30 day checkin is still there or the fact that CBOMBS are back again

No, because I was right and you were wrong. And you're still wrong about all the shit you said. I can't recall if I mentioned the refund exploit thing or not and I'm not scrolling to look but if I did, I was wrong on that. However, Sony never said anything about it being a preventative measure to prevent an exploit. But go on, keep trying to do that damage control for your stupidity. What is so difficult about admitting you were wrong the entire time? I literally just said if I mentioned the exploit thing, that I was wrong about it. How about you? Why are you defending your stupidity to your death, when you've been flat out proven to be wrong over and over and over and over and over and over? God damn, BOY. You dumb af. I used to buy a lot of digital games but didn’t download them, although I haven’t turned on my PS4 for several years.

Per Sony, there is only a one time validation then a person can go back offline. There is no every 30 day thing going on. When you connect your PS4 to download your purchased games, they should verify at that time if I'm not mistaken. You should be perfectly fine to download them then go back offline if you wish. Edit: Were you asking if both the PS4 and PS5 need to be online? If so, I wouldn't imagine so. Just the PS5.

And now we are asked to stand up to Sony yet again.

The question we should be asking ourselves is why: why should we get the prices down yet again?

I have had my disagreements with this debate back and forth from both arguers but we risk sony's anger to save consumers.

And dedicated fans did not give up on reducing the price hike strife, even when the rest of us did.

These two, in their own ways, are asking us to stop the price hike harms for a brighter future, and I for one will take up criticisms against Sony greed to fight by gamers' sides.

Sony never publically comments onm exploits anyway, thats why it was not mentioned when they were asked about all this, you can still reasonable assume they implemented this, at least partially, to combat such things, current and possibly future exploits as well
