They recently increased the age for enlistment from 35 to 42, and are even allowing folks with a mark regarding marijuana. This comes after Pete Hegseth with his "warrior ethos" speech. This administration is a joke.
Potentially related, the IDF chief has come out saying that their military is "on the verge of collapse" due to being overdeployed.

So feel lucky, Americans! You'll get to scale up the number of boots on the ground while the IDF scales back.

They're doing this to avoid a draft. They know nobody wants to willingly enlist to fight for Israel though. They'll have no choice but to draft. It's a matter of when, not if, and once they do, I swear to god, there better be riots.

I imagine in time, this administration will do their own "overdeployment" in this form.

A draft would be again, so critically unpopular, they would become unelectable. Like, toxic waste levels. A war is already incredibly unpopular, but drafts are often so much worse. You don't want to be the party who drafted people, because essentially it's gg for that political career, and everyone under the same umbrella/ political affiliation.

What are the chances of a draft actually happening?
I think they can try, but it's probably going to do the opposite of what they think. A draft, imo, relies on a good enough unity of the country in support of the purpose, and I don't believe this administration would be able to convince people of that, given how Trump's own approval rating is pathetic. Not to mention more people are waking up to how the country was thrown into a war with Iran by an idiot trying to cover up the very files he claimed to expose during his campaign. What are they going to do if people refuse? Put them in prison? Kill them for "treason"? Do they even have the manpower to accomplish an act against refusal? Will the majority of military and local police follow orders? The country would probably have its own internal war at that point.

I wish I could be that optimistic.

Trump's approval ratings are through the floor, and Israel has him by the balls. Not only is Trump in too deep, but he has nothing to lose. I think within 6 months, if this war is still going on, and we keep losing manpower, there will be a draft.

I don't see a draft happening, and it's not because I'm optimistic, but rather because Trump is a dementia patient with a very short attention span. Insiders are already saying he's "bored" with the Iran war and wants to move on to something else. I think he was stupid enough to believe it would be a quick in-and-out operation like Venezuela, and that Iran would immediately become pro-US once the ayatollah was killed.

That's not to say he won't do a bunch of other desperate/unhinged shit in the lead-up to this year's elections. He'll need a lot of distractions from all the dying soldiers and collapsing economy.

It would require both congress and the president to authorize one.

Again, political suicide. Nobody wants to sign off on that, because that would be the end of their career.

So much winning. 🤣🤣🤣

But no, a draft is highly unlikely, despite their changes in the rules. If they actually did it, I'm pretty sure it would lead to a very severe national civil disobedience.

People will not be willing to die for their government. Especially not for this current one.

This was just on the front page of Fox. Remember when people on the right were up in arms about the war and said boots on the ground would be their last straw? Yeah, those people are being beaten into submission once again. Bunch of pathetic rubes.

"As per Iranian Government request"?!?!?! LOL!!! Seems like Trump is being dog-walked by the Iranian government now. They're calling all the shots, and having him post on his own social network to say that he'll be a good little bitch.

Alternatively, he was always going to postpone it (because his twitter threats are just that) and its an attempt to make it sound like he's doing a negotiation.
This is now the third time he has postponed the epic destruction promised, and desperately hopes he can gaslight Iran into surrendering before his next deadline.

He may have wanted to, but that tweet with the comment about the Iranian government request just reeks of being strongarmed into saying it. Iran knows they have all the power currently, and the longer they withhold the straight, the more the world will be angry at the US.

It's absolutely embarrassing for the US that with the 900 billion per year they throw at their military, they're unable to overpower the opposite side of the straight which is being held by a military spending of 25 billion.

It honestly has me worried about how war with China would go. China spends 247 billion per year on their military, but you can be assured that money is efficiently spent, and not wasted on 1.7 trillion projects like the F35 or doofus grunts like urherenow.

Here's a video by the Iranian media that even an idiot follower of Trump can understand.
don't you guys just love how this asshole's opinion is the only opinion that matters? he would love it if everyone was far left. he thinks by acting like a tool on here, it's going to make some sort of difference or change someone's political views.
