Well I finished Redux, probably the best way to replay Other M. Thought I'd leave my thoughts below;
I honestly like M's music, and while Maxx had some good ones, like you say, shoehorning other Metroid tracks took away. Redux keeping M's music was a good call.
I like the idea of Suit Auto-Repair instead of Adam Authorization, but perhaps due to my issues with making the .iso, the game version (Dolphin says R3OE01 Disc 1, Revision 1), or both, those voice lines were all jumbled up (see below).
Perhaps related to the above issue, 3rd person missiles wouldn't work for me with the Classic Controller patch.
- Grapple Beam VO played for Ice Beam upgrade
- Speed Booster VO played for Varia Suit upgrade
- Ice Beam VO played for Speed Booster upgrade
- Varia Suit VO played for Wave Beam upgrade
- Wave Beam VO played for Grapple Beam upgrade
Not a big deal imo, I love the sfx they make, which iirc are absent in Maxx's 3rd person missiles.
All the cutscenes that use the wrong model are already noted unto your TODO section, I didn't notice anything else.
I like the changes made to the cutscenes also, esp the effort that went into the (real) Madeline Bergman cutscenes.
Personally I preferred Maxx's version of the Sector 0 cutscene. Adam makes the Metroids strengths more certain instead of speculative, but I can understand why the rough editing of those cutscenes might not be preferred for Redux.
Love this mod, like I said, great way to replay Other M. Kudos to everyone involved, I know modding isn't easy. Cheers a bunch.
Yeah when I overwrote the files, it was just the drag and drop method. From the Redux folder into the extracted Other M folder, and then yes to all to replace files.Mmm I'd have to check the issues with the VO.
I'm sure they work since I did a whole play through when I finished the audio and cutscenes and they all worked fine on my end.
How did you replace the files?
On a fresh extract of my vanilla Other M .iso, "se_char_adam_voice_ingame_05.aix" plays the first part of his Ice Beam Authorisation VO and "se_char_adam_voice_ingame_06.aix" is the second part of that line.Going back to this.
When you made the copy-pasting of the voice lines, can you check the original .aix files against the new .aix files?
For example, I'm sure that "se_char_adam_voice_ingame_05.aix" is supposed to be the Grapple Beam voice line.
So what you can do, is compare each of the "se_char_adam_voice_ingame" files from Other M Redux with their original counterparts in Other M, and see if they match when it comes to the item they mention.
You can open up the AIX files in VLC and hear their audio without issues, so you can do that for both the Other M Redux AIX files and the original Other M AIX files too for comparison.

Below is a table I've compiled of every "se_char_adam_voice_ingame_[NUMBER].aix" in my extracted .iso, where [NUMBER] is indicated each row, with a paraphrase of what that line says.
(of note, Japanese dubs of each listed file exist in my copy of the game.)
For Redux lines, I checked against the included .flac, .mp3, and .aix files, which all match with each other.

I've checked the new .aix files, and they all sound like they match up! I'm guessing it was just a simple mismatch when naming the files.Thank you for your feedback.
That table was very detailed and it was of great help to narrow down the faulty lines.
For some odd reason I cannot explain, the item restoration lines were swapped at some point.
I even checked with my own installation of Redux and I have them in the correct order on my end, so I'm not sure when or why that happened.
Either way, I have re-uploaded those in their correct order to the Archive.org page now. They should be now in the correct order, check out the Archive.org page and try re-downloading those specific AIX files again to confirm, please. Let me know if they're now okay.
Also you're totally right. That table is meant to say Wave Beam, not Plasma Beam. I'll try and edit it just in case anyone might need to refer to it in the future for whatever reason, thanks for pointing that out. (simple mismatch when naming ig? haha.)Btw, and just to be sure isn't se_char_adam_voice_ingame_43.aix supposed to be the "Authorising Wave Beam" line instead of Plasma?
Since from what I recall Plasma isn't authorized by Adam but it's instead activated by default during the Ridley fight.
The sound files provided were previously incorrect, you'll have to recreate your .iso.So does this mean I have to create the redux iso again? I didn't read the posts made by LTen to avoid game spoilers. @LTen did you mixed the sound files coincidentally?
The .zip file has everything. Since you only need to update the sounds, you can just download the smaller file that contains just the sounds.Didn't you use the zip file? I did. So maybe the zip file has the correct sound files after all. Can you please confirm this @ShadowOne333

I used Gecko Loader to patch the .dol, then Wii Backup Fusion to compile the .iso, this got 3rd Person Missiles to work. Also, for the 3rd Person Missiles not working, I found that to be an issue with the GCT Embedder method of patching.
If I patched the DOL with Gecko Loader then it works.
Everything seems to work just fine! If I have any issues when I finish Hard Mode, I'll report back.Awesome, thanks for confirming it's now working properly!
Guess that leaves only the two issues listed in the TODO section, does everything else work fine now on your end?
Did you get the 3rd Person Missiles working?

Missile sounds still don't play in 3rd person, but that might be beyond modding (Metroid Other M port for Switch 2 anyone?).

With the optional music used with Maxximum, Redux is defo my favourite way to replay Other M.
If you are using the redux.dol file, you don't need the cheats, the missiles are already coded into the game.is it necessary to use cheat code for missiles to work in third person?
Only the aix filesWas trying to install the latest version, does it require the flac, mp3, and spectrogram png, and afpk as well or just copy the aix files?
