The "impenetrable" label is valid on the Switch 2 and even on the Switch 1: the software/firmware/kernel is impenetrable, and even to this day, there are no softmods on current versions.
"Impenetrable" and "never" are words that have aged badly every single console generation without exception.
The PS3 is the textbook case. Sony called it unhackable, and for years nobody seriously challenged that, not because it was true but because OtherOS gave the homebrew scene what it needed. The moment Sony yanked it, the community shifted focus, and within a relatively short timeframe the whole thing got popped with a five-dollar USB device running custom firmware plugged into the front port. A five-dollar device.
Security on any platform is just a ratio of time, effort, and money on the table. If someone publicly offered a million dollars for a working full exploit right now, there is a very realistic chance it lands within 8 to 10 months. It always comes down to whether the target is worth the grind, not whether it is actually possible.
The bigger barrier right now is probably not the hardware itself but Nintendo's legal posture. Nintendo has become the most aggressive litigator in the console space, making it commercially and legally toxic to market any exploitation tool publicly. The Switch is already thoroughly compromised, which removes the "just for the fun of it" motivation for targeting Switch 2, and anyone who does find something meaningful has strong reason to stay quiet rather than risk landing in Nintendo's crosshairs. The friction is not technical, it is legal.
Modchips solves that. Therefore the Switch 1 isn't impenetrable. It just needs an addon. The "impenetrable" label is valid on the Switch 2 and even on the Switch 1: the software/firmware/kernel is impenetrable, and even to this day, there are no softmods on current versions.

well, exploitable flaws...Bold statement eh?..https://switchbrew.org/wiki/Switch_System_Flaws
They haven't? I believe you can use the save data transfer feature from Switch 2 to Switch 2, you just just can't transfer from Switch 2 to OG Switch.I bought a Switch 2 with a cracked screen as I plan on using it for TV gaming, but Nintendo hasn't made a "Transfer Switch 2 to Switch 2" option yet so if I want to use it... I'll need to accept the deletion of the game data (then download again) and also lose my screenshots.
Bummer, that's a damn shame. Maybe I won't downgrade to that one then.
Did you read ANY of the other posts in this thread? Make it $10 million and it would make ZERO difference. Switch 2 will not be exploited. It is not actually possible. Pretending that because other consoles of the past have been hacked that this one automatically will be too is lazy and foolish. Please educate yourself on specifically why even the elite hackers of the past are saying the S2 won't/can't be hacked before offering the willfully ignorant here false hope. Some of them are actually denying themselves the ability to play new games on their $500 Switch 2 hilariously waiting for a system exploit that will never come!If someone publicly offered a million dollars for a working full exploit right now, there is a very realistic chance it lands within 8 to 10 months. You can transfer saves, but can't transfer game data so I'd need to reinstall everything. They haven't? I believe you can use the save data transfer feature from Switch 2 to Switch 2, you just just can't transfer from Switch 2 to OG Switch.
There are a few ways to transfer screenshots:
- Use the Nintendo Switch smartphone app to transfer them to your phone
- Plug in a MicroSD Express card and move the screenshots over to it.
- Use a regular MicroSD, I believe I've heard this works for pictures only, but should allow you to transfer them just the same.
- Connect your Switch 2 to your PC or Mac using a USB cable, go to Data Management->Manage Screenshots and Videos->and select 'Copy to PC via USB Connection'.
To get the screenshots onto the other Switch you will still need a MicroSD card. But even if you don't have one, at least you can easily access them on your phone or whatever.
Minor issue, right? You can transfer saves, but can't transfer game data so I'd need to reinstall everything.
No such thing.Modded Switch 2 can use stuff like JKSV, right?

There is no and will be not a modded switch 2Modded Switch 2
Have to pop in and pop out various game cards it's a minor issue if you don't mind doing it.Minor issue, right?
No such thing.

I remember when everyone used to say PS3 couldn't be cracked... That didn't last long. And now it's one of the easiest consoles to hack.Software is written by humans. Humans make errors. Errors create vulnerabilities. This chain is unbreakable.
