Remember Vectrex? It's back, in
Following the success of the many retro consoles remade in a tiny format, people are reaching further back and farther out, to the lesser known consoles of ereyesterday. And they have reached Vectrex. An interesting console, running vector instead of pixel based graphics. Pretty advanced for its time.
The Kickstarter campaign to remake it in tiny form has launched yesterday, met its funding goal in 12 minutes. It's currently at $550,000 out of a $125,000 goal, and going strong.
Here's the pitch video:
Like the original, this is a standalone arcade machine, with built-in screen. Unlike the original, the screen is LCD instead of the cathode ray tube. But, like the original, all games come with the foil overlay with the game backgrounds and bordersvand extra graphics.
Cute.
Price of the mini version for Kickstarter backers is $150.
If all goes to plan, production starts summer 2026, and they are expected to ship September 2026.
