Vectrex Mini on the way

It's been a while since we last got a mini console but there is finally another one on the horizon, this time it's the impressive Vectrex that will be shrunk down for your gaming pleasure.

The original console's lovely screen was it's main feature and to recreate that experience the mini will come with a 5" AMOLED display.

One of the quirks was the use of physical overlays that the user swapped out for each game and that tradition will continue with the new system.

Speaking of games, there will be 12 included with the ability to add more.

It will be launching via Kickstarter on November 3rd.

FYI, what they have been showing so far is just a mockup. One of them is a mini pc and the other an android box.

They are thinking of shipping it with an ESP32, but they hadn't started doing it four weeks ago.

Good news, that means I can just wait for it to go to retail and not take any of the risks of crowdfunding.

Yes, they've only shown prototypes or mockups so far as a proof of concept, to gauge public interest. What CPU they end up using is still up in the air but Vectrex is simple and can run on lightweight hardware, that part shouldn't be a problem.
