Can there ever be a software only Cold Boot for a V1 unpatched Switch? No modchips, trinkets etc
So there is no need to inject payload on power off
what is the nearest we can get to this?

No, there's no coldboot software exploit and it will most likely never exist.

Nereba was a software only exploit (no coldboot) on firmware 1.0.0.
Similarly, Caffeine was a software only exploit (again, no coldboot) on firmware 2.0.0-4.1.0.
For any other firmware, fusee-gelee was the way to go. Coldboot required a hardware modification.

And that's pretty much it. I doubt that we'll ever see coldboot option on Switch, but you never know what certain someone might come up with.
