Ever since Wiimmfi enforced TLS in 2018, it has been impossible to play Mario Kart Wii Online on a WiiVC inject. However, WiiLink WFC has fixed this issue, so playing online (with security patches) is possible now!
What we are going to do here is a simple main.dol patch. This will allow us to connect to WiiLink WFC. I will make this as simple as possible for people, so here we go!
Simple Way
1. Go to The WiiLink WFC Website and search up Mario Kart Wii. Find your region and download your .gct gecko code depending on your region.
RMCE01 is NTSC-U
RMCJ01 is Japan
RMCP01 is PAL
RMCK01 is Korea
2. Now that your code is downloaded, I will now show you the simplest way to patch it that does not require WIT / WSTRT.
Download Dolphin Emulator (This will extract our game)
Put your Mario Kart Wii game in a folder you will remember (name it like Mario Kart for simplicity)
Right click on MKWII in dolphin, go to properties, click on the right arrow in the new window, and go to Filesystem.
Now, right click on the DATA partition, and extract the entire partition. Extract it to a folder you want to extract it to, or just extract it to your Mario Kart folder.
3. Download GeckoLoader (This will patch our main.dol)
4. In your extracted ISO files, go to the "sys" folder. This holds our main.dol, so keep that.
In geckoloader, put your GCT file we got from the WiiLink WFC Website in the Geckoloader program. "Open Codes" part is where you put it.
Place your main.dol in the program, it should be the very top option.
5. Now that Geckoloader is ready to patch, it, click on RUN!
6. Your patched main.dol should now be in a folder named "geckoloader-build". Put the main.dol from that folder in your Extracted ISO. The sys folder holds your main.dol, so put your PATCHED main.dol in that folder.
7. Now, put ALL of the extracted contents into a new folder, for simplicity. Go to dolphin, remove the old Mario Kart directory, and ADD the new folder that holds the extracted contents with the patched main.dol.
8. Right click on your game, and click on Convert File. Convert it to an ISO, and DO NOT remove junk data. I have not tried it, but do not do it.
9. Congrats! You just made a pre-patched ISO of Mario kart Wii!
10. The rest is simple, inject it with UWUVCI / Teconmoon's WiiVC Injector, and you are done! Have fun!
(Make sure to swap ZL/ZR with L/R so your drift button is on ZR.)
The SUPER simple way
1. Download the Wii Easy GCT Cheat Embedder
2. Put your GCT from the WiiLink WFC website (check above) in a folder named "gct"
3. Drag your Iso in the bat file, which runs the program.
4. Once its done, congrats! Just inject that in UWUVCI / Teconmoon's WiiVC Injector. (Make sure to enable swap ZL/ZR with L/R)
