Feedback Please fix spam posts still showing up in the recent content box for blogs.

For the two of us who still like to look at blogs, this gets really annoying:

The posts are deleted and no longer link to anywhere useful, but the title remains. No doubt spammers have caught wind of this because the amount of spam in this section has only seemed to have increased lately.

Plus they are Spamming their crap all over the place. In the WiiU, 3DS Section, all over. Bitcoin crap, Prostitution, Drugs, you name it.

Most problematic is when phone numbers (WhatsApp contact) are in the title. Not the case right now, but it happened. This way the contact possibility remains long after the moderators banned the spam account.
The blog section being more dead than alive means this bug can make spam visible for weeks or months with almost no real blog entries in the recent content box.

GBAtemp is under constant attack by spammers. I've no idea how many posts I've reported over the last few weeks -- while making sure to report only one post for each spam account... to not spam the report center.

Seriously. I've become very sick of spam attacks and no preventative measures on our end. We report the posts, they block the account, then they do the same exact fucking thing the next day.
Would some sort of added protection against new users really be that far out of the question?

Phone numbers (or any sort of contact info) in a thread title should be blocked with bad word filters. There's no legitimate reason for a normal user to use them.
I'm surprised YouTube doesn't do this with usernames as well.

I am still sticking the idea about limiting how many threads newbies can make. I honestly think it would be a good idea to set it so they can only make 1 thread, then need to wait for like 15 to 30 minutes for a cooldown. It won’t completely fox the issue but it would at least slow the rate they can reply.
I also think the staff needs to be expanded, like bringing back Moderators. Or even making a low-rank staff member called something like “Spam prevention” or something. Something to help curve the rampant spam because this is fucking awful

And yes, I do think there needs to be more staff because this is too common of a sight

There isn’t enough staff to deal with this issue.

tbh it's weird I could attach pictures and files to posts as a brand new account. I can't really complain though.

I will mention since I'm the only staff in the image that I don't actually have the power to deal with spam. It's just folks on the moderation side of things that have the correct permissions to delete threads/nuke accounts and the like.

Honestly, all the more reason to create an anti-spam moderation role. There are several of us that are frustrated and online often enough to deal with this. It's getting worse, and it's going to continue to get worse until something's done about it. It's really frustrating to witness so many of these spam raids and not be able to do anything about it.

Meg staff don’t have the spambot button anymore? I recall someone from the Meg Staff’s only real moderation tool being the spambot button.
Also, didn’t mean to put ya on blast, you just happened to be online when I was trying to make a point.

In my time as staff we've never had the nuke button, and that's been like seven years at this point? I think there are exceptions, like the Chief Editor role, since they have something closer to Admin perks if memory serves, but that's about it.

And yeah I didn't think you were trying to put me on blast, I just wanted to bring it up in case people notice me online and start tagging me in things thinking I can do anything about it lol.

@Costello @shaunj66 in case yall haven't seen this. Apparent uptick in spam lately aside, spam blog posts definitely shouldn't continue to be listed in the blog feed after they're nuked

My ability to understand time is similar to Frieren’s. It could have been a feature last week or 10 years ago, lol. I could also just be mixing up information in my head ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
