Battle.net is required to play Diablo IV on PC Game Pass

This Thursday, Microsoft will be fulfilling one of its key promises from when it acquired Activision-Blizzard by bringing Diablo IV to Game Pass. It looks like it'll have an extra, unexpected wrinkle, however: PC Game Pass players will be required to install Activision-Blizzard's installer, Battle.net. They'll also be required to have a Battle.net account and connect it to their Microsoft account before they can play.

Ahead of the Thursday release, Microsoft released a short tutorial online to help guide users through the process, complete with a Diablo IV-style graphic that has every step explained in great detail.

While it's perhaps not surprising that the battle.net launcher is still needed for Activision-Blizzard games, it is still a little frustrating. Now that Microsoft and Activision-Blizzard are one company, it seems even more cumbersome to need two separate accounts and two separate launchers to access their games.

It's all about effort, yours and theirs, they like to keep theirs low, end of story, you are not walking so that is OK.

Diablo 4 is worst DRM means required internet all of times. Same like Diablo 3 and World of Warcraft require internet all of times. :hateit:

But lucky for Switch game have Diablo 3 then I try to play on Ryujinx emulator and surprise don't need Battle account then play without internet. I'm happy to able play Diablo 3 (switch game) on my computer with emulator is great to experience something different way. Not fair on PC version of Diablo 3 game due to worst DRM not allow us to play without internet.

I was keep looking for Diablo 3 fix long ago on Windows 7 but something mess up or crazy everywhere on internet (someone and hackers can revenge us and people to get hit by virus, malware, etc) then I give up for good reason to keep my computer safe. I just ignore all problems on internet for Diablo 3 and move on.

That's why I refuse support Blizzard for put worst DRM in games. Blizzard company is doing very bad move forward right now to future. If what internet is going to broke down that would be a lot worse for all people who bought Diablo 3 and Diablo 4 games then become useless in near future just like graveyard. Blizzard games have problems with quality will going down so bad. Blizzard company can go to H*LL. RIP

I bought StarCraft battle chest and Warcraft 2 & 3 battle chest for myself because it's my favorite all of times because it don't require internet to play game online. I skipped Blizzard games have DRM and force moved into SpellForce games are a lot better quality over Blizzard lousy games with DRM. SpellForce games will still evolve and improve over time. I own bought all SpellForce games (1, 2 and 3 on GOG website only). I hope to get to play SpellForce 4 game in near future. I will always support SpellForce developers that make awesome SpellForce games without DRM are way to go and buy on GOG website only. I not support Steam because company kill old operating system support off (remember Windows XP, Vista, 7 and 8 will never forget!). I know GOG do care support old operating systems.

Serbia, Republic of

The ARPG realm has much better games at this point (Path of Exile and Last Epoch to name my 2 favourite)

Makes sense, since it has online functionality that is tied to Battle.net. This is just the easiest way to do it.

I don't want everything to be tied to my Microsoft account anyways. I was just fine using my Minecraft account to sign in to Minecraft.
Sooner or later they'll probably merge Battle.net like they did with Minecraft accounts, since it's easier to manage one system than two in the long run.

I hate Battle.net. Mostly because I wanted to play Warzone recently (which I believe they changed the name to just "Call of Duty" for some weird reason) and I had to download like a terabyte of data to play it, and then it still wants to advertise to me to pay for the latest Modern Warfare or whatever title they're on now.

Damn, i thought they'd get rid of Battle.net for good, or at least make an integration of both stores
This is Microsoft though, they still fail at making the simple things simple and love to make you do more when its not needed.

Take its Windows OS, still fails by adding extra steps to get where you used to easily need to be as they still can't create an AIO OS tailored to know the difference between an office/home desktop or a mobile device.

Sod it, force the very bare bones mobile front ends for everything you need thus if you want exactly what you are looking for, sorry, you'll have to manually dig around for it.

Take how this same shit OS forced as a console OS and its flawed forced power options still to this day, how it as an OS constantly requires rebooting over simple updates or patches that should easily be capable of running on the fly.

How this console also still to this day cant tell the difference between physically owned games on disc and prompts you if you own it and to re download it from the app store when trying to boot the disc.

How it is still recycling its failure Grove.exe when they tried cloud storage back in the early 90s and it was an epic fuckfest and abandoned.

To later recycle it and it still fail for business use and they crap it out into your home OS and console save sync.

They put so much effort into making an idiot guide as if to think its hard to create accounts, the only idiots here is Microsoft that thinks buying major game studios is going to win them the console war, when its never done them any favors in the past as its them who fuck it up.

The time to do this would have been better spent simply sorting out its shit digital platform so it only requires on account, gamepass to run the game.

It makes me laugh how they keep bragging Edge is this epic browser, yet they never get the results I search for at the top unlike others and even as its apparently designed for its digital services, the fucker cant even detect that I already own gamepass ultimate and keeps directing me to the subscription section while actively signed in using my gamer profile.

I love this, people who are actually sick of the declining quality of "Blizz" games won't have to play, the people that do still love them - have no problem with this, and the people who say they think Blizzard sucks these days, but still play the games, will be forced to use it. Everyone wins!!
