I asked people what the worst Windows OS is, and everyone's pointing at Mistake EDDition.

You expected otherwise? Get a few service packs in Vista or go its equivalent server edition, and either way run it on some decent hardware (aka not most things marked as Vista ready), forgo some of your legacy hardware (printers and such) and it is actually not too bad.

95 again with all the bells and whistles did quite a bit over 3.11 and plays a fair few games, not as nicely as a fancy install of 98 but still.

2000 might not be the gamer's weapon of choice but it has its merits and is still NT line (XP and beyond).

11 can be slapped hard enough to get rid of enough junk that it works.

ME basically then has no redeeming qualities (I don't even think the hacker enhanced versions are up to much compared to similar efforts for other versions older and newer) and is the worst combo of 9x and NT lines.

ME is Milenium Edition right? We had this on our Pentium III 1000mhz at the time and my stepfather refused to let me install Windows 98 as the new edition had to be better than the old edition.

missing windows 2000, ponyOS and templeOS
"Worst Windows Operating System" Also 2000 was more server based.
If we were talking about worst OS of all time we would be going way back to the early days. I suppose Java OS would also be on there.

Why is 95 even on here? 95 was really good.
People don't like 95.

no, and i like to keep it that way... my share with palm os, ibm os, macos and IOS were absolutely more frustrating then windows me and java os combined can ever be though.
It's Windows-Only... palmOS, ibmOS, MacOS, iOS, and ChromeOS don't qualify.

While Vista itself isn't entirely at fault, I've had the worst time with Vista. Most prebuilt machines I interacted with at the time, even ones that shipped with it, were underspec'd to run it. Application Not Responding errors and crashes were commonplace as a result. If I were judging based on software alone, I'd probably agree with the consensus here.

I’d vote Vista.

ME was basically 98 with improved UI and worse stability (the anti-3DS). You could basically ignore it and use 98. Vista was one of the less backwards compatible moves and was harder to ignore/avoid.

M.E. was like the absolute worst mash-up of 98SE and 2000 merged together. The UI was ugly as hell, so I don't know what you consider "improved" about it. Everything in M.E. was a downgrade. I stuck with 98SE until XP came out. Stuck with XP through the Vista era until 7. Stayed on 7 until the 8.1 brought the regular start menu back (Officially, and not using StartIsBack or whatever.) and now here I stay on Windows 10 on my main PC, and Win 11 on my laptop.

The custom bootleg ones are by far the worst including Windows 11 with the mass amount of bloatware and telemetry spyware shit included.
I have to disagree. There's custom "trimmed down" versions of Windows 11 you can get that actually strip out all the bloat, telemetry included. I don't know where you're finding these crappy versions, but the good ones are really easy to come by (Or get a NTLite license and strip down an ISO yourself).

I already know this, but I hate how they bundle this with their operating system alone.
