Hello all, total switch noobie here.
So I ordered my first ever switch and I’m expecting it to arrive Monday. The fancy oled one.
I have several questions tho
First, I wanna hack it obviously, but I was wondering which chip should I use. I see hwfly mentioned here a lot but there are different sellers on AliExpress and I don’t know which ones are legit. Is it okay to share AliExpress links here?
Second, if I hack it can I still play games like Diablo online? I still intend to purchase the game but is it playable online if the console is hacked?
Third, how difficult is the hack? Any videos of how to do the whole thing with hwfly?
The hekate_ipl.ini file can stay How it is, you can copy the single nosigcheck line over and call it a day. What would applying the "Hekate+AMS-package3-sigpatches-1.5.1-cfw-16.0.0" do to the loadout of my launch page? Anything? Would anything turn out bad if I kept the original hekate_ipl.ini instead of replacing it? The launch I have been using has been Atmosphere FSS0 EmuMMC. What changes, what doesn't, what shouldn't I do?
Please post the contents of your /bootloader/hekate_ipl.ini file.Hello everyone, I am new to the switch hacking community.
So recently I decided to homebrew my switch however, I ran into a problem, so I hold the power button to completely shut down, and when I use the rcm jig and hold the plus button and power button and plug it in to the pc, tegra rcm says OK however when I press inject payload, hekate shows up for a few seconds then the screen goes black and I reboot back to stock.
So please if anyone is able to answer it would be big help. Thanks

Overwriting your helate_ipl.ini by accident isn’t the end of the world. Just copy it beforehand to hekate_ipl.ini.bk before you unzip.

Alright that makes sense. But what about online play and any tutorials on how to installs the hwfly? You need one of those HWFLY OLED chip and you need to solder.

It doesn’t look very hard
I like the stock dark theme, but i would like to remove the NSO and Eshop button. Is this possible? And if so is there a guide someone can point me towards to please?
Search and find the .nsp with the specific version you want. They are out there. Get creative. We won‘t post links here.If I wanted to install a specific version of an update on a game, how would I do that? I have the game at the version I want it on my normal switch, If I get the game on the CFW switch, could I update the game via local update? Or is that a no, in which case, how would I download specific game versions?
@Hayato213 is correct. You would need to install a theme…specifically just a layout from a theme that has those buttons removed. This requires homebrew on a CFW hacked Switch. Where is 520?!?! LOL!Just update DBI version to latest. 520, if I remember correctly.
Thanks! I have downloaded a theme from there before and I could inject it wit the nxthemesinstaller applet, but the file I downloaded from the page you linked to me is a json file. NXthemesinstaller does not detect that file. Any idea how I can convert it to the correct file?@Hayato213 is correct. this is the layout you want:

Use the web theme creator. You can find it by clicking the triple line menu in the upper left. Thanks! No, it slowly lights up, then slowly fades away but when I plug the cable again it shows the charging icon then boots up to stock.Post automatically merged:
You do not have autoboot set up (it’s set to 0)
when Hekate pops up on your screen it should wait for your input. are you pressing any of the options?

It might not necessarily work with the new firmware so it would be better to remake the hosts folder in that case. There is also a 90DNS tester in the link I provided earlier to indicate if its working or not.Would I be able to copy paste the hosts folder to the new firmware just as a means to help my paranoia? No idea if I did 90DNS correctly, and the correct safe way to check if I have.
Well, you don't have to worry about the SD card because that doesn't affect the console's ability to accept payloads. The only variables are the USB cable, the program used to inject payloads, the operating system used to inject payloads, the state of RCM, and the worst case scenario: the USB port. Assuming the USB port is operating normally and the fact you've tried other cables, you can try using other operating systems like MacOS or Android.Yes I made 100% sure that it was correctly in rcm. Held the button for 15 seconds. Then held power and volume plus for about 2. Also tried 30 seconds and power on and volume up for 5 just to make sure it full cycled. My SD card was reformatted to Fat32 Manually because it wouldn't do it on it's own. I also tried with exfat (which it natively supports). Same results. I made sure everything I downloaded from the github pages for Hekate+Nyx and Atmosphere were all the most recent. I had backup files from the previous cfw on my switch and I made it exactly the same as I made the switch files for the previous cfw version. I ordered a new sd card of a larger size to see if the SD card was the problem (still not here, was supposed to be delivered tonight actually but the dude I'm guessing quit the job because when my stop was coming up, the truck shut down tracking completely) and every cable and port I've tried is giving the same result. And at this point it's not even a reinstall. It's completely fresh. When I got my charging port fixed, the store factory reset my switch.
Also you're correct. I am sorry for not posting here.
Big help man, I reboot and used the volume+ plus power and injected payload and I'm in.This is a new behavior for me. I‘ve not seen such a thing. Something’s funky.
We can try going into Maintenance Mode and then rebooting. That fixes “weird stuff” sometimes.
Complete these steps
- Ensure the console is powered off.
- If the console does not respond, hold down the POWER Button for twelve seconds to force it to shut down.
- With the console powered off, hold down the volume up (+) and volume down (-) buttons, then press the POWER Button to turn the system on.
- Be sure to maintain the volume buttons pressed down until the Maintenance Mode menu is displayed.
- The POWER and Volume Buttons highlighted on the Nintendo Switch
- Once in Maintenance Mode displays…simply reboot.
If that doesn’t fix it, do you have another SDCard we can try from scratch?
