Unless you are changing the “backlight=“ line or running a sys module like Fizeau, there are not many things software wise that are going to impact your Switch randomly like this. Maybe a loose cable?
some ppl have similar issues
maybe i will migrate to another sd card for a start : o

Hello guys,

I have bought a new Eriko device and I wish to transfer the saves from my first Eriko, to my second Eriko.
I have tried JKSV, but when it restores the save files, it says done, but it is not actually restored. The new device has the new set of users and I wonder if that can be a problem...

Hello,

i want to buy a new switch, can i just buy the newest edition of the switch (i think it´s the OLED one), and then use it with CFW or is that path blocked by nintendo, e.g. through a higher OFW which prevents any type of hacking (as of now)?

Thanks for the reply!
You can but you will need to buy a special knocoff chip from aliexpres that cost something around 80-120$ dolars and then you will need to perform some risky soldering operation or pay somone to do it for you.

Ok, thanks for the Update. So my options are to find a used one to be able to do homebrew and cfw stuff? Which hardware do u recommend - i guess it depends not only on the hardware model (gen1 or gen2) but also on the installed ofw?

I would say to try and look for an unpatched Eriko one, no need to solder anything, you can hack via software tools. Basically you are looking for switches that are unpatched (confirmation here https://ismyswitchpatched.com/)

Depends on what model you are after, if you want OLED you will need the HWFLY modchip, same thing goes for V1 Patched and V2 Units. You don't need a modchip for V1 unpatched unit.

Yeah, somethings funky for sure but I’ll be damned if I know what would cause it. Try running h2testw on your card.

I have an Erista and a Mariko and they can transfer saves to each other w/o issue using JKSV. JKSV is built like a tank, considering all that it does.

One thing that gets me is that restore is tapping the (Y) key to select restore and THEN hold down (A). I always feel that to restore I click (A) to do the initial select, but that causes an overwrite instead of a restore and your save is thus identical to what was in the current game w/ no progress. Make sure you’re not retarded like me!

First, I have no idea what "Eriko" refers to. There are Erista and Mariko consoles so it sounds like you combined both into one word which is confusing. Secondly, have you run the games at least once on the new console before restoring the save files?

Yikes, yes, Erista; I had a brain freeze there!
Yes, I have run the games at least once.

However, one is at 15.0.1 and the old one is at 15.0. Does this play a role/make a difference? I am trying to find why it does not work.

@binkinator , indeed I am doing it right, no worries there :D
I have not transfered the user though. I just go to the new console in JKSV, I see the saves from the old console, (in the new console) I am at the user I wish to transfer the save (new user/new console) but it does not overwrite it with the new save.

EDIT: Do I have to enable Account System Saves and Enable writing to system Saves in JSKV?
EDIt #2: in both cases I am in CFW emuNAND partition. And I have not enabled any email/Switch online account.

Maybe try using another save manager such as Checkpoint.

15.0.0 and 15.0.1 are essentially the same FW. Mine were doing saves between each other on 14.x and 15.x for several weeks w/o any issues. There’s no need to carry over a specific user. Game saves are not user specific and are often traded between users on the Internet w/ no real way to sync user accounts. Unless you brought over an old, somehow mangled config, the default config works out of the box. You don’t need to enable anything…defaults are fine.

You can ensure you have a good config by moving/renaming /JKSV to /JKSV.bk and running it again. It will create a new /JKSV with default settings.

Hi.
Can JKSV be used to backup games in an SD card, then, take the save's folders into another SD card and restore the saved data into the newlly installed games in the new SD Card?

I tried to backup two games in my old card. Then, I copied the folders that those 2 saves created inside ./JKSV into ./JKSV of the new SD card, but when I start JKSV in the new SD card, I can't see the saves I copied from the old SD card to the new SD card!

You have to create a save from the game in question first. Open the games you wish to restore, let them run the first autosave and then run JKSV. You will then see them in JKSV and restore/overwrite them.

Best way to fix sector id is to tell Hekate to fix emunand. It will find it on your SDCard and fix it for you!

This is spot on. :-)

You can also hit (X) on your user icon and it will give you the option to create all save folders for all games. Helpful if you have a bunch to recover.

Oh, can also use Google Drive to share between switches. I just got mine configured this way…it’s the bee’s knees, honestly.
