Soft-reset, cheat and clean mode update
ez5eg5.gif
The EZ-Flash team have released loader v1.65 for their slot-1 EZ-Flash V cart. New in this version is the ability to use cheats, soft-reset and to be able to use clean ROM mode again.

Change-log will be added once it becomes available, for now EZ-Flash V owners can download the update which we've mirrored at our Download Centre below!

Is it the same for all games? Some games already have built-in soft-reset which takes you to the game menu, maybe an in-game reset overrides the EZ-V's one?

you will need .cht files in the cht folder.
I have uploaded two examples to http://angrycoder.org/~betrayed these are for contra 4 and mario kart.

Just hit the orange arrow thing on the loader screen then load a game(say contra 4). A couple up of options will show up hit the arrow key right to turn on the cheat and proceed to load the game. when the game starts hit L+R+start this will enable the cheat, L+R+Select to turn off the cheat.

In terms of where to find *.cht I couldn't tell you. I am just taking action replay codes and modifying the cht files by hand until I get around to writing a program to do it for me.

If you have any games you want a cheat file for let me know it will be good practice for me.

I can't find anywhere what the key combo for soft reset is. I press L+R+Start+Select and it resets the game, to game menu, not EZ menu

It's R + L + A + B.

Doesn't work for me. And I followed vergessen's instructions for cheats, those don't work either

-edit-

vergessen's contra cheat didn't work for me, but the cheat that came with the update (Geometry Wars) worked fine. And so far only soft reset works on Geometry Wars as well.. I'll do some more testing though.

Hey guys why is there two .bin files in this update? There is ez5sys.bin and now EZ5upldr.bin. Can both be deleted after the update has been done?

hmm they worked here but I have some glitches. I made changes to both of the cht files if you want to try again.

They now load it off the sd card(i think r4 does it the same way?) you can remove EZ5upldr.bin but you have to have ez5sys.bin

I'm very disappointed with this update. Only one game on my card could soft reset, all the others made a horrible screeching sound and gave me white screens.

Soft Reset works 100% for me. Make sure you hit the orange button (2nd from top). It will turn blue when activated. While in-game use L+R+A+B to reset back to the EZV menu.
