Acekard 2.1 DEC 09 Official Fix
Update
ak2_card3.jpg

Team Acekard has applied the AKAIO 1.6 RC3 fix to their official firmware. The official firmware can now be used on the Acekard 2.1 cards which shipped after December 2009. Users who have these cards may experience firmware instability and saving issues. If you do not have these problems then you have no reason to update your current official firmware.

AKAIO 1.6 RC3 is in the final stages of BETA testing and should be released within the next few days. Stay tuned AKAIO users!

Special thanks to Normmatt via IRC for the news!

Does this update fix new games or no?

Acekard team spelled "Version" wrong.
This is unlikely. Over at the official forum normmatt mentioned having only sent them the solution to the card issue, since he ended up figuring the fix out before they did.

Presumably this work with AKAIO by placing it's

ak4menu in

__AIO\AK2LOADER so people can use AKAIO instead?

This special version of Acekard menu is only made for some certain AK2 but not for AK2i.

Please be attention that, 1) If your AK2 has NO any issues please do not use this version
Will this not work on the carts not effected? is there no way for it to detect if the Spansion chip is present and use Normmatt's alternative method?

You got it wrong. The next version of AKAIO WILL support these cards. You just have to wait a couple of days for beta testing to finish. Then it will be on GBAtemp's front page and you will be able to download and use a working AKAIO.

Got what wrong? This is about the new Acekard Official, not AKAIO 1.6RC3. Everyone already knows AKAIO 1.6RC3 will support them.

In case you aren't aware, you should be able to get AKAIO 1.6RC2 working by using the loaders from the new official.

then why the fuck use akaio?
the whole awesomeness of akaio is it's loaders...
why use akaio if you are using akmenu to load roms?

That's your opinion.

So you think the only difference between AKAIO and official is that AKAIO has updated loaders?

All I can say is:-

Normmatt (& the AKAIO team - mustn't forget them) a Genius !!!!

The people who MAKE the cards couldn't fix the problem - But a 'Backroom programmer' has !!!!!
(& it's nice to hear RC3 coming soon as well)

You... want the official loader on AKAIO? OK. That's weird. Why in the nine hells would anybody want that? To get less compatibility?

Hi which file(s) do I need to copy from the official zip file and where do I put them in the AKAIO folders?

It's all mentioned in the AKAIO Wiki
QUOTE
Official AK2 Loader

The official AK2 loaders can be used from within AKAIO to load retail ROM dumps on the Acekard 2 and 2.1. Please note that the official loaders prior to v4.12 are blocked on the AK2i.

Using the official loader is an outdated method as the AKAIO loaders are currently more up-to-date and optimized more often, however, the option still remains for those who wish to make use of it.

To use the official AK2 loaders, place the firmware file akmenu4.nds from the official firmware in the __aio/ak2loader directory.
You can rename the official loader if you like (IE: ak4.11.nds, ak4.12.nds, etc). Renaming the loaders allows you to have multiple versions of the official loader for use with AKAIO at any one time.

To use the loader, select an .NDS file, and open up the file properties by pressing the "Y" button (or use the Start menu).
Click the "Rom Settings" button or Press "Y" again to bring up the .NDS options.
The second spinbox from the bottom will allow you to select the official loader if you have placed it in the correct directory, as previously stated.
Click "OK" or press "A" to confirm your changes.

Now you can use the official AK2 loader for this specific ROM instead of the default AKAIO AK2 loader.
