Starfox: EX released - adds new levels, music, enemies & more to the SNES classic

Starfox: EX is an extensive romhack of the 1993 Super Nintendo classic Star Fox that adds new levels, music, enemies and much more to the game.

The result of 2 years of work, authors @kandowontu, @SegaRetro92 and team have overhauled the original game with many new features, including 30/60FPS modes (although these require hardware modifications). There are even new ways to experience Star Fox with added SNES Mouse and Super Scope support!

“The Star Fox Team is back! But this time, their mission is to fight for their very existence!

The Mario Bros. have decided that the Star Fox franchise no longer has a place within the grand Nintendo universe, and has set out to destroy the Lylat System forever, with the help of characters from more successful Nintendo IPs! They have also posed as Andross in order to hire the infamous Star Wolf team, a rival band of mercenaries led by Wolf O’Donnell, to distract Star Fox while they pull off their plans! Can Fox and his team put aside their former friendship with the Nintendo All-Stars to save both the Lylat System and everything associated with their franchise?”

Experience the amazing power of the Super NES and the SuperFX chip and take full control of Starfox!

This romhack boasts dozens of amazing additions and features, including, but not limited to:

A brand new map with 17 new levels, new bosses, music, backgrounds, enemies and more!
A 3+ page pre-game menu to customize your experience!
Use the SNES Mouse, Super Scope, NTT Data Pad or Multi-Tap for a new way to play!
Play with 2/3/4/5 people, AI controlled teammates, or ships all controlled by player 1!
Wireframe mode, grid lines, palette changes and more!
Customize your player ship and crosshair style with new crosshair functionality!
A full model test viewer, BGM/SFX test menu and Super Scope Calibration screen!

This looks amazing. Lots of effort went into this and that awesome commercial. I might have to download the commercial as well to play it on my crt tv. XD I MISS THE OLD DAYS SO BAD! And yes. I do have an FX PAK PRO. I will play it on original hardware. Awesome.

Just yesterday was trying to patch this.
ReadMe said to use StarFox v1.2 rom, but no matter what I couldn't make it work.

Gonna try again!
Have you generated the checksum of the ROM and compared it to the one on the page?

IS IIIIIT?? Did not know that... Had that game on C64 and can see the similarity now! I love learn-ding new things about old things :D
Yep Starglider was made by Argonaut Software. The story is something like they made a port of Starglider for the NES and Nintendo liked it so much they bought the rights to the game remade it with the help of Argonaut for the SNES and added in the fox ect.

Also Argonaut were the people who designed the Super Fx chip.

The thing is that maybe I downloaded the wrong rom.
I have the 1.0 version of StarFox in my SD, that didn't worked.
I downloaded a supposed version 1.2 and that didn't worked neither.
I'm currently browsing for different versions.
And yes, the Rom Patcher site tells you that there's a mismatch, but again, used 1.2 as the readme said.
ALSO: The version I was trying yesterday is different than this one!

@JuanBaNaNa The checksum in the readme is correct. I patched the ROM that you used using the "beat" patcher, and it ran perfectly under "Snes9x" without a problem. I don't tend to use online patchers from my experience as they can sometimes not patch the ROM correctly.

Okay! Managed to make it work with the site.
Just use 1.2(U) and before patching select: "Remove Header" option.
I'm glad that it now works.
EDIT: Maybe not
