Konami announces remasters of Suikoden 1 and 2

Konami is continuing to remind fans that it made games, once. During TGS 2022, the company announced that the beloved PS1-era JRPGs Suikoden 1 and Suikoden 2 would be getting remastered. Given the name of Suikoden I&II HD Remaster: Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars, it'll feature both games having HD backgrounds, new pixel-art animations, upgraded sound quality and sound effects, fast forward, auto-save, and other modernizations. It'll be out next year, for Steam, Xbox One, Switch, and PlayStation 4..

I should be happy... Right?

(Why am I not?)
I am, for one. I would like it better to have the characters updated and not the scenery o ly, but I'll get this one, like I did with them Turtles.

At least they did it. Will look good next to my originals. I love the first game. The second was one I had a bit of trouble getting into and my system had some slowdown during an army battle.

The first game music is amazing and sent a shiver down my spine when that last part hits.

Open the pre-orders, paleeze...

Only for old-gen consoles? :O
I guess since they'd be no enhancements with XSX or PS5 versions they thought might as well skip and just rely on Back compat.

Personally, i find these remasters pretty cool and I'm surprised Konami of all companies puts some effort into this yet with Final Fantasy we get either garbage with FFV and FFVI or pixel remasters that might as well be the original roms just with some minor tweaks. Same with Grandia, being just the PS1 version with minor fixes and bad filter applied to every sprite and texture, instead of actually restoring graphical features we had in the Sega Saturn version.

I wasn't expecting an HD 2D treatment although that would probably be a full remake at that point.

Pretty cool in concept but seeing it's Konami, I'm wondering what the catch is.
Well, there's been no catch with prev. ports of other collections. They work with M1 and they are an excellent port studio every dev should work with or at least try to emulate (pardon the pun) what they do. Having said that, I've learned to never trust Konami lol.

Every big gaming conference i get my hopes up for a BoF or Suikoden remaster. Of course I always have a bit more hopes for Capcom because Konami being Konami you know....

And look who surprises me? Very impressed and I can't wait to play Suikoden 1-2 again! I was actually thinking of replaying Suikoden 1 since it's such a nice short game
