How can I know the Title IDs of BIN/CUE and ISO games?

I think it's in the system.conf on the root of the image. you'll have to load it in like ultra iso or something to extract it. you can open it with a text editor.

Is there an install order regarding downloaded PS3 games, like, first the game, next the update and then the DLC?

I'd do game, update, dlc, but I don't think it matters between update and dlc as they'll be in separate folders. some games, however, like gt4 iirc, requires you install every update; others only need the latest. you'll have to look up which one is which. gran turismo 4 sounds like a pita tbh, because there's like 20 updates.

I thought I could ignore the downloaded updates and just install the downloaded game, next the DLC and then updates, if asked.

well, dlc uses its own rap. the update will use the rap of the base game. that's why "fixes" must have every update fixed, because the license isn't uploaded. don't even need to upload the license, just the rap key, and we can build it ourselves. I think that's what nps does. it doesn't download the rap, it builds it. very easy to do.

I still don't get the difference between RIF files and RIF keys. Why doesn't Cobra only change the RAP key inside the RAP file instead of converting the RAP file to RIF and include on it a new license (RIF key)?

the rif is the license. there's a rif key which is a 16 byte alphanumeric, which is used to encrypt the rif along idps and act.dat. I don't know how else to explain it. you can even do this on your pc if you have the aforementioned stuff.

So, the RIF key isn't actually a file?

I still don't get if EDAT files are made-up like RAP's. They must be placed in “/dev_hdd0/home/00000001/exdata” so I guess they're not. I also assume they have no personal information otherwise they wouldn't be out in some websites like RIF's.

edats do not contain personal info afaik. I don't know about non-C00 games, but with C00 games, they're generic. that's why hen and cfw can unlock them. if you build an edat pkg for one, it will ask for the content id, which is all that's needed. personally, I think this is a serious fuck up on sony's part.

I don't know, but you can install an edat through a pkg, but not a rap/rif.

btw, you can install a pkg anywhere on the hdd using ForceInstallTo iirc. I think that's the command anyway as it's been years. I personally hate the ps3 scene, so I hate talking about it. I wish I could forget everything.

it will force ps3logo.dat to install, which is part of pkg installer. even if the file doesn't exist, it will be made part of the pkg. it's basically a watermark by sony that either says sony entertainment or playstation 3, can't recall which. I was able to make one that said pinky through hex editing.

also, btw, you can tell which app modified the edat based on its watermark. ebootleggerjoe's says something like "time to drink vodka" without the spaces. the main one says "burnedbless" plus something iirc.
