Meaning of love?

No no, they can love, but I am asking of the meaning of that.

Apart from what I have already said love is that indescribable feeling of happiness you get when in the company of a person that loves you as much as you love them.

Love is thinking about that person even when not in their company.

But obviously @Creamu knows none of that. He only puts the "love" in reproduction and that's it. He doesn't even think about the EMF-ridden world his offspring will be living on. But i guess what's meaning in doing that..

What is the meaning of love?


For me personally the meaning of love is to reproduce and ensure that your family/children are able to do so as well.

For most love is a means to attain happiness in their life. For others, it's meaningless. But generally speaking, most of the things we do in life we do in order to attain long term happiness. What happiness means is a whole other subject and is very subjective.

I think love is just a word we humans created to describe the feeling to be deeply attracted to someone. When we see an animal cuddling with another, we probably would ask ourself if its loving or just liking that other animal. There are even animals who eat their partner after... idk, forgot the important part. In the end we see a family and probably think they love each other, while i would think if for example the father doesn't love the mother anymore but is just together with them because of the kids. maybe he wouldn't care to look for a new partner anyway. I dont think i can love because i am mostly just full of lust. still, i wonder if i ever really loved my ex.

You do not need love to reproduce. There wouldn't be so many illegitimate children without fathers if this were the case.

True love has a meaning that could encompass everything. However I doubt it exists anymore, and if it does its incredibly rare.

"Love" holds no meaning these days for most as most are incapable of it.

Also this is not an existential question. An existential question is about your being here not love.

Both questions have no answers. I don't think they're supposed to.

I do know there are some cultures that encapsulate love in their lore, religion and culture. Like the Indian culture and lore for example. Then, there are cultures in my opinion incapable of feeling true love - british and africans.

I mean, love is in the end just a word. We might call the feeling love. what it actually means to someone is sometimes different. You can reproduce with it or not. Maybe you can just feel the heat of "reproducing" with any person. You could even not love any person. Who knows. i might love the feeling of being loved, but after my last relationship i think i am not ready for another one, maybe even never. I'd rather want to experience more with different people. Will i love them? I dont know. Will they love me? I dont know. Just looking at an attractive person wants me to be seen too. But i dont want to be loved unless we get to know each other and some feelings might develop. Also, some people might be attractive for you while others wont think so, but i dont think you should always just go for the looks. That might be the reason why love how many others call it aint existing nowdays. We clearly just have the luxury of choosing and maybe even feel more than any other animal on this planet (or at least communicating our feelings to each other). We also clearly have too many other problems around the word "love".

Amanda hasn't always been as nice and sweet to me as she was in this thread, but perhaps you will have better luck.

Yes, if the person of interest is messed up, that person will mess up your offspring as well. So it is important to check beforehand.
