🤣

Emunand is an Emulated copy of your Sysnand. If for some reason you installed a package That contained brick-ware it would take out yiu emunand rather than your real Sysnand and it would be much easier to recover. Just make a new Emunand. This is a very rare scenario BTW but still something to consider.

Good deal…then that’s not for you. 😁

You could remove the users individually or do a factory reset. Since it’s someone else’s stuff you probably don’t care so either way is fine.

Correct. I would recommend the last one Set up Atmosphere with EmuNAND on Erista (Unpatched) after you finish your system reset. Also make sure you do a backup of your Sysnand. Always always always make backups!

Thank you very much for all the info. I'll report back if I manage to do it all :D

Okay, I messed something up, I wanted to first format SD card and then do the system factory reset but when I formated the SD card it says Fatal error: Failer to stat stage2 (atmosphere/fusee-secodary.bin)!

Press Power to reboot.

Do you know how to get pass this and just boot to orginal FW so I can do the factory reset and then hack it?

No worries. This just speaks to the fact that you removed the data from the sd card. The /atmosphere/fusee-secondary.bin file is in fact missing, so that’s expected.

Just need to walk through some stuff to get you where you need to be.

for starters, step by step, how are you booting your machine?

Remove the software via Setting -> Data Management and then download a new copy of hbmenu.nro. It should be in your original zip file When you hacked your switch.
I dont get it. How should i remove homebrew menu using the switch data management? Of course it isnt listed there.

If you mean how do I boot it when I remove the SD card (when I copy games for example) then it is this:

I download fuse bin of Atmosphere 0.18.0 and then inject it with Tegra RCM.

I thought about just following the "How to set up emuNAND with Atmosphere on Erista (Unpatched)" guide for the latest version. Don't know if that is possible at this moment.

Hi. I am new to Nintendo Switch hacking and using the switch.hombrew.guide to hack my Switch. So far I got as far as finishing up the Safety Precautions portion with the fusee-gelee exploit. Before continuing, I wanted to know is there a noob friendly guide to setting up an emuNAND so I can keep the sysNAND clean?
The switch.homebrew.guide has a section for setting up emuMMC although there's not really that many steps; all you do is make an emuMMC via Hekate.

So that was what that was for. Sorry, I am very ignorant to all of this and tried to do some research. When I boot up the console after I create an emuMMC, will everything be stored on that (games legitimately and illegally obtained, save data) without affecting the sysNAND?

Only if perform all of that in emuMMC which you do by booting into emuMMC. The section for setting up emuMMC should also explain how you boot into emuMMC but to simply put, you choose the emuMMC option when using Hekate.

I’m not familiar with any nsp versions of hbmenu so wanted to check if it was installing it as a title (similar to the way Tinfoil shows up under Settings -> Data Management.)

What happened when you redeployed the hbmenu.nro from your .zip file?

edit: No need to reopen old threads or start new threads. You are being helped here.

@Draxzelex @Chaosta @impeeza @Takokeshi @anyone feel free to jump in and help out with this one.

If that’s still the case you don’t need to inject fusee.bin (which is what’s making your system flip out since you formatted the SD Card.)

If you no longer want to do the factory reset you can simply move forward with the guide. It will reestablish the files you need on your SD Card to make everything work.

Hiya, I'm having an unexpected bit of trouble with my current switch. The switch is an unpatched console I got ~2017 and installed atmosphere on ~2019-2020, with an emummc and autorcm, and hekate. I always kept my emummc offline, and around the time BDSP came out I added a stock atmosphere boot option to my hekate setup to use with my sysmmc and have been on it since. Now, I currently need to use the console to reformat an earlier SD card I used (smaller than my current one) for work and have been trying to boot back into hekate. For some reason, the switch refuses to do so.

Some stuff I've observed:

- The switch doesn't boot into RCM even when I choose the "Power Off" option or hold down the power button for a few minutes.
- Using my jig after doing the above seems to do nothing.
- Tegra does not detect it as an RCM device after doing the above.
- After powering the switch down, removing my current SD card, and booting it back up, the switch still powers up normally, which used to not be possible.
- My sysmmc is on firmware 13.1.0, and I am unsure exactly what my version of atmosphere is (since I can't check) but I'm fairly sure it was around the time of the 1.0 release, and was probably the earliest atmosphere with 13.1.0 support.
- The switch displays the little battery icon in the top right when it's powered off and I plug it into my computer. It then boots into the home menu.

Is it possible that I somehow removed autorcm from the switch and am just on horizon? And if so then how can I get my jig to work again?

so you have a primary sd card for the switch. you took it out, put another sd card in to format it, took it out then put back in your primary switch sd card?

is it exfat?

have you tried injecting hekate with the sd card removed?

Yeah I did but I thought that, since I want to update CFW, I can just update it now and then do a factory reset which I did and it worked well. Profiles are deleted and CFW is updated but there is a problem. It still says "S" in the system menu like I picked sysnand and I have no clue why. I followed instructions for emunand and it still says S.

how are you booting into cfw? hekate's launch menu? or injecting fusee directly?

Yes, the S indicates Sysnand. Let’s step back through and See why the emunand wasn’t created.

I believe you went through the process to upgrade what was on there initially.

We need to follow a path that will get emunand installed. Here are the options:

https://rentry.org/CFWGuides

Looks like you already picked "How to set up emuNAND with Atmosphere on Erista (Unpatched)"

https://rentry.org/EristaEmuNAND

Might be that we skipped step 4?

Step 4.

  • Place your SD card back into your switch, insert your RCM jig in the right side of your rail, hold the VOL + button and turn it on.
  • Connect your Switch to your PC, press Inject payload, and you'll launch into Hekate.
    • Make sure TegraRcmGUI is running.
    • If you have a payload launcher, then you can skip this step.
  • Select the Tools tab, then select Partition SD Card, and finally press Ok.
  • Now, pick what EmuNAND type you want to use:
    • To create a partition-based Emunand:
      • Move the emuMMC (RAW) slider until it says 29 full, then press Next Step and finally press Start.
    • To create a file-based EmuNAND:
      • Press Next Step, and then press Start.
  • Once the operation is done, press Close and then select the Home tab.
  • Select emuMMC in the main menu, then select Create emuMMC
    • For partition-based EmuNAND, select SD Partition and then select Part 1.
    • For file-based EmuNAND, select SD File.

  • Wait for your emuNAND to get created. Once its done, select Close.
  • Select Tools then select Archive Bit - AutoRCM and pick Enable AutoRCM.
  • Turn your device off by pressing Power off.
  • Place your SD card back into your PC and move back any previously deleted files into your SD card.
  • Now, place your SD card back into your switch, and press the power button.
  • Connect your Switch to your PC, and you'll launch into Hekate.
    • Make sure TegraRcmGUI is running.
    • If you have a payload launcher, then you can skip this step.
  • Once you're in hekate, click on launch, and select Atmosphere CFW to launch into Atmosphere.
    • If you ever need to go into SysNAND without your CFW, select Launch and then select Stock SysNAND.

I'd just taken out my primary SD, without putting in the second SD yet.

I actually ended up figuring it out, I wasn't booting into RCM because I forgot I had to hold down the volume button to do it the old fashioned way. Really sorry about that!

I'm still not quite sure how I managed wipe autorcm off of my device. I'm guessing that maybe I accidentally updated the console on stock mode atmosphere thru system settings, would that wipe autorcm off?

Either way I'm good for now, thanks for the help.

I have emummc set up through a pack called UP I found a long time ago. I then used daybreak to update to 14.0 but everything’s broken and won’t launch. Cant even boot into cfw. How can I reinstall atmosphere / ctcaer without blowing up emummc and losing my saves?

Did you update Atmosphere, Hekate and Sigpatches after you updated firmware?

Heres a good place to start reading up on it all: https://rentry.co/SwitchHackingIsEasy

edit: where we start depends upon the version of Atmosphere you were on before.
