Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp delayed following "recent world events"

adedat.png

Nintendo has pushed back the release date of Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp, previously scheduled for launch next month. The reason for the delay was, "in light of recent world events", and sees the remake being delayed indefinitely for now. Nintendo says to stay tuned for a new release date. The game was already delayed once before, having been originally set for a December 2021 launch.

Fun Fact: The original Advanced Wars on the GBA released in the US on September 10, 2001...one day before 9/11.
Amusing fact to follow this, the EU and JP releases were delayed, which was speculated to be because they were set to launch just after Sep 11th happened.

So one could say that the release date was Advanced because a War is basically brewing elsewhere..

Why do we only care now? Foreign countries invading other countries is nothing new, yet people were okay with it back then, but not now.

Very hypocritical and double-standard.

I've always been against govts invading countries.

Because NPCs are told to care about it now. So they do.

When they're told not to, they won't.

Asking them to grasp the obvious implications of this is beyond them though so just enjoy the ride..

Seems like an excuse to delay it

That's exactly what this is. If the game isn't up to snuff, just say so. I get there's a real issue happening right now, but people are using it as an excuse for everything.

this makes no sense. delaying games because of real world events is for the woke who live in lalaland. for real people the world keeps on turning. yes the real world events are sad and you can have empathy but dont be a tool and a woke loser by making excuses to be a loser.
Lol, agreed it's completely stupid. I guess the moral thing for us to do then is just cancel our preorders and forget about this game altogether.

I mean the first game does start with a Russian Commanding Officer invading a neighboring country...
The villains in games have always been the Nazis (it was fun killing them but it's really boring now because it feels repetitive), Russians, and Arabs.

I'm pretty sure people of Middle Eastern ancestry aren't happy with that, but they carry on with their lives.

The point is, don't mix real life with video games.

It blows me away how cranky some people can be over a game delay being attributed to a decision made in light of real world events. Real world events have affected a number of games through the past few decades. Take a chill pill and find something else to enjoy/dislike with your time instead.

I agree on this. I think people forget the game is probably already done with development, judging by the release date previously assigned. I mean, i wouldnt be surprised if this is true, it has happened before.

Believe it or not, even of its fiction, art is a reflection of reality, and the problem here is that the game takes a certain instance in regards of the enemies which we should remember are russians too. I dont think Nintendo wants to do something that may be taken as an insult or taking sides, which could be a very problematic thing right now. Maybe its an excuse, but some people assume a lot and forget that Nintendo is a family friendly company, this decision isn't really surprising honestly
