emuMMC & sysMMC are separate entities. Think of emuMMC as a second console but on your SD card.
I've no issues with that, but yeah i've to admit that i'm confused when I read the guide they say to 'restore the eMMC' haha
But I'm gonna try that anyway to be clean for good and to end that setup.
Thanks a lot for the answers !

Edit : Well I can't move my rawnand.bin saying that's it's too big for my SD card while i still have 90Gb left on it. Uh.
Well i'll have to use another SD card I guess for that x_x

If your SD card is formatted as FAT32, that may be the reason why. You can use another SD card it is formatted to exFAT or you can split the backup. Either option is fine however.

After following the Rentry 'Switch Hacking Is Easy' guide, there was no mention of Tinfoil. Can anyone recommend a guide to getting up and running with this app?

No better guide than this one: https://tinfoil.io/Download#download

grab the .nro file put it in /switch start hbmenu in title override mode (hold R wile selecting a game) and then hit the icon To run the installer. It takes care of the rest…

edit: docs for tinfoil game install methods https://blawar.github.io/tinfoil/

edit: might also want to check out DBI or Tinwoo, both excellent installers in their own rights.

Hello,

I am back to switch scene after many years. My switch is on firmware 4.1.0.

SX OS is old version v3.0.5.

How do I transfer to atmosphere and not lose my game saves on the SD card?

SX is running on emmunand hidden partition. I also have many XCI games.

I would also like to use the SX usb dongle to push the payload as I travel a lot, is this possible?

Thanks

Absolutely possible. Check this out: https://rentry.org/mys8q

edit: if you can make a backup of your SD card before you muck with anything that would be ideal.

Hi all,
I have a v1 unpatched switch & regret following a vid tutorial in hacking as I feel it sent me to the wrong direction.. super confused.

I used an Exfat SD in the process & got hekate/atmosphere running and the last step was to go to launch through sys & great! I was happy. Haven't done anything but download a PSP emulator. Now, i just learned about Emummc.

Bought a new higher capacity SD and It is 32Fat now & transferred all data from my Exfat.
Next, created an Emummc with the Fat32.

I try to enter Emummc and after boot, theres atmosphere logo, then is Nintendo Switch logo, & then my screen is black and lit.
I can log onto Sys/Stock fw fine. I dont want to use that anymore though.

I can't enter Emummc. Why & what can i do?
I have updated Hekate&Atmosphere& other files seem to be in the right place.
Thank you

Go through a manual doc step by step and see if you missed anything.

Here’s one that’s helped a few folks: https://rentry.org/SwitchHackingIsEasy

It sounds like this one matches your situation but please double check by starting with the first doc and drilling down section by section: https://rentry.org/EristaEmuNAND

Just a little update, I've posted here a bunch recently. I was having an issue not being able to dump my digital purchases, because as @Draxzelex pointed out, the v1 switch that I had was set to secondary, so it lacked the title keys.

So I ended up restoring the nand to go online, making the console the primary, downloading the games again, backing up the nand, and dumping the new keys and nsp's. Then restoring the nand again to go online to deavtivate the console and put my v2 back as primary. Everything worked fine with yuzu, and it gave me a much better grasp of how this stuff works.

Anyways, I did what I set out to do, and any future titles I purchase will likely be physical cartridges just for a little less hassle. Thank you all for pointing me in the right direction especially @binkinator and @Draxzelex!

I have spent all day trying to figure it out and & i am having trouble.
I have gone through that guide that you sent & a few others.
I just am having trouble trying to boot Emummc still., i wonder as to why?
I feel like theres something im missing but idk what.
All files appear to be in place & are up to date in the right locations.. payloads, etc.

What exactly is going on when the emummc isn't booting past the Nintendo logo? The screen appears to be on like I mentioned. I've tried waiting it out but nothing so i just turn it off after a long while.
& is formatting the SD card again enough to "start over" now that I have a hidden partition? if not, how can i prep this switch & card for a fresh install, im willing to try from step 1.
I appreciate your help thx so much haha

Sorry guys,i wanted to ask if there is a possibility that the wifi does not turn off when the Switch goes to sleep with the screen off.

Before doing this how do I back up my game saves, just in case something goes wrong?

Most of my games are xci will I be able to play them or do I start looking for NSPs?

Would it be easier to format sd card and start fresh with new emunand with atmosphere?

Thanks

Thinking of buying another switch. It has sx chip in it. does sysnand need to be stay on 11.0.0 to enable sxos functionalities? Or can it be on emmunand? Can I dual emmunnd on same sd with 500gb With 2 partitions (sxos and atmosphere)?

Try getting your sigpatches from this thread.

if that doesn’t work then let’s do this, move each of the following folders to the same name but add .bak to each so you end up with:

/atmosphere.bak
/switch.bak
/bootloader.bak

At worst we can remove the .bak and you’re right back where you started.

Then follow the guide to download the required zip files agin and extract them to the root of your card. Make a new hekate_ipl.ini and exosphere.ini with the correct contens and any other items in the guide.

Sysnand and emunand are independent and can be on two different versions. You can absolutely dual boot two hidden emunands.

Here’s the @mikefor20 guide for doing just that: https://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-...en-partitions-on-the-same-sd-tutorial.601607/

Best way to backup saves is JKSV

Most of my games are xci will I be able to play them or do I start looking for NSPs?

You can install XCIs the same as NSPs. No need to re-download everything.

Would it be easier to format sd card and start fresh with new emunand with atmosphere?

Only marginally easier. Ideal state would be to work with a complete bit-for-bit backup or start from scratch with a blank fresh card. Neither is a requirement though.
