so i installed a .xci file for a game. the game says it needs a software update. if i connect to the internet (unblock nintendo server) will it ban me? if i get banned on emmunand will it transfer over to system nand?
If you go online with a hacked system, you always run the risk of getting a ban. Also emuMMC is just a copy of sysMMC; it wouldn't "transfer", they would both be banned because they're the same.

Well its a copy but they're not running in parallel. emuMMC is a copy of all your files from sysMMC that runs independently from sysMMC. Your console uses a certificate to go online and emuMMC makes a copy of that too so if either emuMMC or sysMMC gets banned, both are banned because they use the same certificate.

This error message is what I see whenever I try to open or run the Tinfoil Installer. The threads that I have read said that I should just wipe my SD card and start over. Is that what I should do or is there an easier solution for this? If I should wipe, what would be the best guide for me to follow to get Tinfoil running?

Finally bit the bullet and installed my [redacted] Core chip.
(just felt that it was kind of a waste since it was unopened and now extremely hard to find with even its clones costing about 3x the original price on Ali)

Just one problem, I wanted to dual boot the Red OS & Blue OS but the license.dat & boot.dat file generated by the SXOS-GFX python script isn't working.
raging_chaos mentioned that it was only for unpatched switches and doesn't work on chip-users or something.
Dunno what he means by using the Internet Archived version of the license generator site ('cause it didn't work for me just like what that kimitoboku101 user said).

Is there a license generator that would work on the original [redacted] Core chips?

that’s actually the one i used lmaooo

i just dumped the atmosphere ones in the atmosphere folder since that’s the cfw i’m running but no change. maybe i did it wrong?

you Got the hekate_ipl.ini and patches files under the bootloader directory as well? Need to make sure we’re telling it where to find them.

edit: please post your hekate_ipl.ini

Unfortunately with the demise of SXOS so went the ability to get new licenses. Current license hacks only work with RCM. As you know Atmosphere covers 99% of use cases (everything but mounting XCI on USB). Really not missing much.

Ah shet. wanted to try that Hard Drive loading thing even for just a little since the license was supposed to come with buying the chip (man, why didn't they just bundle a license with the chip that only works for the chip it was bundled with?)

edit: wait no, rather, why not just make the chip just work out of the box if we were gonna get the license for free anyway?

I did exactly the same thing for the same reason. I have dual boot on my V1 and an external USB. After I got it all up and running and tested it out do you want to guess how many times I’ve used it in the past 90 days? Precisely zero. Could have saved myself some trouble and just watched a YouTube video of it working. But who knows man…maybe some day in the future some chick will walk in and say look…I’m gonna get naked with the first guy that can show me a dual boot Switch and I’ll be like 💥 BAM💥 and it will all be worth it. You never know.

Anyway, sysnand's on fw 10.1.0 right now (and I finished dumping the NAND an hour ago, but haven't done that much since soldering the chip except using Genuine Boot to check the firmware).

This thing about burning fuses...
After I install Atmosphere, the only way to update OFW is still through Nintendo's servers, right?
And not using Genuine Boot prevents burning fuses (on higher firmwares), right?

But if I want to play online, is it safer to use Genuine Boot instead of the regular loading-ofw-with-hekate thing (after cleanup) or should I use Genuine Boot for online?

You can update using Atmosphere's daybreak, if you using nintendo server and genuine boot if would burn the fuse if you let it finish booting.

If I want to play online (but keep the fuses intact not really sure if it matters since I already burnt 13 but still), can Daybreak also update the sysnand?

And it's fine to go online with ofw-hekate vs genuine boot?

You should separate your NAND if you want to play online, you would more likely to get banned if you run pirated game than running homebrew, I use two units in general for pokemon games, one for editing purpose and one for online.

By this, you mean a sysnand + emunand setup right?

(sorry forgot to mention I was gonna use a sysnand + emunand setup)
would prolly get an OLED for legit stuff (but don't have money for a 2nd switch)

(or maybe mod the OLED and make this one a legit console but still, no money)

As long you seperate your nand you can always use one for emunand for pirated game/homebrew and one for sysnand for online play

(what I got online is that I can use Daybreak for emunand)

But say I use sysnand for online; I'd need to update using Nintendo's default updater for sysnand right?
and as long as I do that by using hekate when booting, the fuses are safe right?

(going online with ofw-hekate is also safe right? compared to genuine boot which burns fuses)
