Hello everyone! I am considering on upgrading my 16gb SDHC card to an 128gb SDXC card so that I can install more games from my SD card to my external hard drive on my Wii U. I run wup via the browser exploit and I have managed to install games from the SDHC to my Wii U’s internal storage, but I want to upgrade to a larger SD card and the ones that are larger than 32gb are SDXC. Does the SDXC card work when it is formatted to fat32 or can the Wii U only read SDHC cards? I am going to buy an regular SD card, not microSD. I am relatively new to this and I apologize in advance if this question has already been posted. Picture of the card I am considering is attached to the post.

SDXC should be fine.. curious, why wouldn't you go for a microsd? They work perfectly fine if it's formatted correctly and are not cheap knock offs.

I have 2 Wiius, and here are the 2 cards I have been using over a year without issues.

I see no reason why your SD card that you've posted wouldn't work:) It will come pre-formatted as exFat, so just format it as Fat32 and you should be good to go. Something to note that is that the WiiU will not read/write past anything faster than around 20 mb/s , so don't expect that "faster" SD cards on the market to make any material difference in speed....in case this helps with your purchasing options :)

I have read both positive things and negative things about microSD cards, some say that they are as good as the regular SD and some say that they are shait. So I wanted to be on the safer side and buy the regular SD. But now I think I will try the microSD with an adapter instead if they work great when formatted correctly. Thanks for your time and answer! Much appreciated!

A smaller microsd card will have more write cycles , and this is what generally can lead to failures. However, with larger capacity microSD cards you are writing to each cell less often , and there's a general better industry wear leveling algorithm that companies now use. I find microsd cards are a lot more reliable than they used to be years ago.
MicroSD cards also have a lot more attention/scrutiny (primarily because of the phone industry using microsd cards).. .. In general, I think both microSd and full Size are good, just not one better than the other, it's just that a microsd card will give you the flexibility to re-use it elsewhere in the future (phones, Nintendo Switch etc.. ) ... anyways I can only speak for myself, but I tend to roll my eyes when I see posts from people only recommending full size SD cards , based on knowledge/experience from 10 yeas ago.! cheers!

I see I see! You learn something new everyday! I have made up my mind and I am going to buy either 256gb or 512gb microSD with an adapter! Thanks again!
